  • I feel bad for anyone who didn't see the world before 2000. Such a different world back then.

This is the time when all the ice cream machines actually worked

I was 17 in 1984 and I didn't realize how much more respectful people were then, cause it was the only reality that I knew. But living today, I see the difference

I was a manager from 1978 to 1987 and we were SOOO busy back then. The lobby would be packed at lunch and dinner. Quarter pounders and quarter pounders with cheese were 55 and 65 cents respectively when I started. There was a big emphasis on workers being fast and always saying “thank you, come again.”

I was a young kid during this era. This is when having a birthday party at McDonalds was every kids dream. A Happy Meal was a big deal. It was actually something to look forward to. I enjoy aspects of technology but I do miss how people interacted before the smart phone era. I got to experience childhood in the 80s and teens in the 90s. I miss those days.

I was a Crew trainer back then. I don’t miss the smoking section, but miss the flavor of actually searing and seasoning the 1/10 patties. Also the soft serve machine always worked, because at least 3 people on any given shift were qualified to strip it down and rebuild it. There was real pride in the work we did there. We were serving guests who deserved our best efforts. Every time.

The internet and the smartphone has ruined society. How sad.

I worked at McDonald's in 1990, and I can tell you without doubt: The people, registers, environment etc, was just like this! How has McDonald's (and the rest of the world) changed so dramatically for worse?! I'm so glad I experienced life in the 80s. Thank you for uploading this gem!

This is like walking into a time machine. I was a little girl in 1984. This is my memory of McDonald's at that time. Cashiers at each register, lobby full of people eating, enjoying each other's company. I'll be 45 this month. It's almost scary looking back and remembering a world that wasn't cold.
  • Wow. Nobody yelling, screaming, cussing or throwing. Everyone clean, groomed, well and dressed, well spoken. Everyone carrying their self with dignity. Now society is a toilet.

"Hi, can I take your order?" "Yeah, give me about a thousand apple pies, because I need to make up for the lousy baked ones that are coming in the future."

Last year something interesting happened at my office job: the internet went out for the last hour of the day. The offices slowly came to life and everyone was just chatting and socialising since we couldn’t do any work. It’s also inappropriate to have your phone out at work so nobody whipped them out. I really appreciated it and tried to take the experience in, even walking through the corridor looking into each office everyone was just hanging out, smiling and laughing: just for the sake of it. It was an organic, unplanned social occasion and it reminded me of the good old days like this video. The sound of people being with eachother. Ofcourse the next morning the internet was up and running and it was amazing how stuffy, cold and void of human life the office became again. Extrapolate that one hour without screens and internet into decades and entire lifetimes and that’s where the magic lies.

You probably weren’t aware of it back then but you have made an important historical deed when you recorded this. Giving us a glimpse into a gone past era. Thank you for your work!
  • @dazknight9326
Calm, normal, no yelling, no crap. That is the 80's. People actually talk to you like a person, not fear.
  • @ShadyGrady3
oh look at that, the workers actually did their job rather then just look at you like they hate you.
  • @FreddieandBrenda
I was 20 back in 1984! I remember McDonald's looking exactly like this, employee's dressed well , food was good and cheap! The good old days
  • Damn I was 14 years old in 1984 I really wish I could just climb inside this video screen and go back to that year
  • Man do I missed those days!! People were respectful, hard-working, took pride in their work, good quality food, and so much more!

Listen to all the "Thank-you's". I grew up in that era. What a wonderful world we had. I really miss those days. I really believe we have de-evolved as a society since the 70's & 80's.
