What are you using for science this year?

I literally just got this in the mail today! Perfect timing. I’m glad you have enjoyed it.

Masterbooks Sci has been very exciting for our kiddos, the pictures, the facts, ect have been great thus far. Heaven and Earth series for our Middle school and Elem school.

Okay I will have to watch this after homeschooling today!!! I was just thinking about asking you what you use for high school science!!!! I have been using Masterbooks now but thinking of going to use Generations for my 8th and 10th next year. We used Generations before and LOVED their science but it didn't go any further in upper grades yet. Can't wait to watch!!!!

We are using same Apologia this year and are starting module 10. My kids would say it is a snooze fest. I have enjoyed it and have learned alot but my kiddos not so much. A few of the experiments didnt work for us (ie crystal one going down/up the string) but most have. They are my kids favorite part of the curriculum. We found the notebook change from lower to middle level to be a big change. If I teach this to my next child I wont be purchasing the notebook. I would just give him a notebook to write down facts and document his labs. Hoping the switch to earth science in module 10 will be more engaging. We had planned to used physicial science next year but Im rethinking that.

Thank you! I bought the solar system one, without the notebook for my elementary age boys after my oldest got into the Magic School Bus Lab and lost the parts. We love MSL but the parts are easy to loose and I know it’s not going to benefit us in the future. I will definitely use your lab recommendation.

Thank you for this video!! I have a question. This will be my first year doing homeschool science, last year we did classical conversations and it wasn't super in-depth as I wanted it to be. I will have a 3rd, 4th and 7th grader & I want to do Science together and was planning to purchase the elementary Apologia textbooks/workbooks, but do you recommend instead I have my future 7th grader do the Middle School General Science on his own instead of the Elementary science with us?

We are currently doing General Science as well with my 7th grader. I have LOVED this curriculum! Very well written. We are trying to decide if we should move on to Physical Science with Apologia next year. I’ve read a lot of reviews stating that people were not happy with it, that it was poorly written. Super confusing for parents and kids and several of the reviews mentioned the lessons left their kid in tears. Have you gone through the Physical Science curriculum with Apologia? If so, what was your experience?

Can one nature’s workshop science kit be used for 2 children? I will be teaching 2 kids at the same time.

Are there answers to the questions in the book for each section? Did you buy another book to read along?

So you do not use the usb video lessons?

Thank you for reviewing this. When you say that this course frequently refers back to scripture, do you mean it has specific verses cited or do you mean its content has a Biblical worldview in a more general way?

I have been considering using this for my 7th grader next year. I work full-time so have to limit what I'm actually teaching between my kids. Do you think this could be read/studied by the child alone without being taught by a parent? We've done one Apologia before and a few Berean Builders, but she hasn't been taught the basics of science (scientific method, classification, lab reports, etc).

Do you have a preference? Apologia Science or Generations Science?
