Hastur was a Black Metal band from Lima - Peru that started out as Veneno Maldito in 1984. By 1986 the band had changed their name to Hastur (name of a demon taken from the Necronomicon whose name is not to be spoken out loud) The lyrics of the band were heavily and openly satanic and far from what other bands in Peru and South America were doing at the time. In 1987 The band recorded in a small studio in the town of Chosica their only demo using a 4 channels console. The demo was called "Secta Hereje" which contained 3 fast tracks in the style of Slayer, Venom Exorcist and 3 slow and heavy tracks in the vein of Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, etc. This tape was spreaded amongs friends of the band in short quantities, probably only about 80 were self recorded. The band Played several concerts and gigs until 1989 in the City of Lima and the Town of Chosica, when they called it quits due to their members moving abroad to study, or starting to work and their own families. In 2014 Putrescense Records re-released this time on 12'' vinyl the band's demo plus 3 tracks live from Holocausto Metal 1988, and 2 rehearsal tracks from the time the band was called Veneno Maldito from 1984-1985 that showed a more primitive and hard-corish infused band with a lot of metal influences. Hastur, along with Peruvian Gods Mortem, remains as one of the first authentic Black Metal bands from Peru and South America.
