Anjelah Johnson shares with us some of her stories and jokes from her one hour special, Mahalo & Goodnight. From getting an awkward massage to her struggles walking in high heels, Anjelah brought the funny and reminded us that laughter is medicine.

Anjelah Johnson was born and raised in San Jose, California and is of Mexican and Native American descent. She became an internet sensation with her viral video, “Nail Salon” which led to many stand up, television and film opportunities. That same year she joined the cast of, “MADtv” as a series regular, which spawned another internet sensation, “Bon Qui Qui.” This original character, a disgruntled fast food employee with no filter, has been enjoyed, viewed and replicated by over 65 million people worldwide. After recording and releasing 3 songs and 2 music videos as Bon Qui Qui, Anjelah signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records to release a full album titled, “Gold Plated Dreams”. Anjelah resides in Los Angeles with her husband and continues to act and tour the country with her sold out comedy shows.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I like that fact that she doesn’t have to use any profanity or vulgar words to make people laugh. She keep it classy and nice 👍

She's one of the few comedians I would love to see live in person because she's hilarious and clean at the same time and makes you laugh non-stop.

Anjelah's nail joke is like Russell Peters' joke about his dad from his first special. Both of them are timeless

I feel like she studied phonetics but never had a knack for vocabulary. She's so damn good at the accents. Super authentic. And she can play hers up or down, which she does to great comedic effect. I just really enjoy the attention to detail.

I have combined group therapy with stand up comedy and it’s really successful. I’ve used comedy to navigate and overcome my own trauma and I absolutely 100% agree laughter is the best medicine, especially when shared with others. Telling people what it’s like being you, using comedy is life brilliant. And finding commonalities and community and acceptance. Changed my life. Hope everyone is having a great day 🤣🤣😍😂🥰

Laughing so hard about getting older and hurting your back. I'm literally having icy hot rubbed on my back right now, not knowing how I hurt it
