How to choose a country leader: choose the candidate that is not supported by west

In 2002-2003 The Economist consistently preached the dangers of Saddam Hussein and strongly supported the invasion of Iraq. Their news really influenced the public at that time. In 2007, they regretted it. So with this fact, do you think The Economist's reporting on political issues is reliable?
  • From what I've seen in videos from western media, it seems they are all negative about this election, specifically the popularity of Prabowo. Why so much negativity?

I think because Gibran is there, Jokowi will still hold influence in the government, ensure continuity of his policies, and keep Prabowo in check. That's why Jokowi voters (non-PDIP ones) are voting for Prabowo in this election.
  • Hahaha... When western media gives a negative image to someone, then that person is the one we have to defend ✌️

dear westerners, let us choose our own leader. mind your own business
  • Jokowi has done great things for Indonesia the last 2 terms. Was inspiring seeing the changes happening in all sectors. I have been wondering who could replace him as president and drive the country forward as he did. I do not believe the current options has the same resolve he has. Time will tell..

Media asing terlambat membuat kampanye hitam tentang prabowo. Isu negatif sudah berlalu dan ini saatnya prabowo menang 😂

Prabowo will be the next president, that’s Indonesian people’s voice. Western media discourse is useless!
  • As long as people are free to vote for who they want, democracy prevails. Should Prabowo win on that basis, then fair play to him and his camp. As to Jokowi - he has elevated Indonesia’s position on the global arena and made tremendous industrialisation effort. His approval rating is strong for an outgoing president.

Many prosperous countries are afraid that Indonesia will become more prosperous after Prabowo's election as president. stop vilifying Prabowo. We, the Indonesian people, know who we should vote for. Stop black campaign

Baseless accusation. He did ordered 9 activists to be detained. All of them back home alive. Some of them joining his party Gerindra later on. Other still missing activists are responsibility of other competing faction in the army. He is clean. He was fought in Timor Leste right in the beginning of his career as special forces soldier, fighting in the jungle. No human rights violation. Now he can enjoy a coffee talk with any of Timor Leste leaders, who once his enemy in combat.
