16 years ago I had money for a one way ticket and 3 months to stay in Thailand. Had never been here before, didn't know the language, culture nothing. But I learned it all. Now this is my home, I speak and write Thai fluently, I'm part of the local (Thai) community and loving my life. If I started a YouTube channel / vlog 16 years ago, oh boy what adventures world would have been able to go through together with me. I'm so glad I was courageous enough to jump into the unknown and see the "old Thailand" before internet came hare.

    ฉันดีใจที่คุณกลับมาประเทศไทย ถ้าคุณมีปัญหาคนไทยพร้อมช่วยคุณนะ ขอให้คุณมีความสุขระหว่างอยู่ประเทศไทย
  • Thailand is one of the easiest places to travel around on your own, I wonder where Loyd went to. I hope you eat lots and lots of food

Did the same thing last month. Went to bangkok by myself, almost by an impulse. Glad i did, it's one of the best ways to grow as a person.
  • Glad to see you start the process of being a solo traveller. I did it many years ago for the first time when I moved to Japan for 6 years. It was tough sitting alone in the Toronto airport after saying good bye to friends and family after one of the best years of my life. I didn't know anyone in Japan, I had never been to Asia, I couldn't use chopsticks and I couldn't speak a word of Japanese. On the very first day of my new job as a teacher for which I had zero experience, my student's three year-old son looked at me and started crying - "it's a scary foreigner." I ended up having the time of my life in Japan. Many years later and I have been solo travelling the last 4 years straight (stranded in Malaysia during the beginning 6 months of the Pandemic - loved it!) and have now been to 106 countries on 6 continents (currently in Mendoza, Argentina, heading for Santiago, Chile tomorrow). You have nothing to fear but fear itself. Research well and the universe will take care of the rest. The world isn't dangerous - that is a media myth - the world is AWESOME, especially the people. I can say that as a fact because I have the experience everyday. You have nothing to fear but fear itself. Then everything will work out in the end - even if it doesn't. You'll see. BTW, you'll love Bangkok - one of my fav cities and I will be there in late October for a month.

Why is there so much click-bait on YouTube? She is not moving to Thailand alone, she is just getting there a week ahead of boyfriend (or husband, not sure). Thumbs down on click-bait.
  • I am a solo frequent traveller. This is the first vlog that I see from you. Good for you that you are out there on your own. I agree with you that it is important to be able to do things on your own. It makes you less vulnerable and stronger. I have a few traveller tips. 1. always pack a change in your handbag and toothbrush, toothpaste and other necessary things if your luggage get lost. 2. Always have an airtag in your luggage so you can track it. 3. know your rights before if things would happen. You hare too grateful to United for doing what they are obligated to do. I also think that you might are entitled to some other compensation. I do not know the American compensation laws that well but I heard there is something similar to the EU laws.4. if you are regular/frequent flyer get a Priority card. That will give you access to lounges all over the world. Specially good with delays. You will get snacks, drinks and a seat to relax while waiting. Some also have showers.5. when bags are delayed your insurance usually cover cost up to an amount to buy clothes and amenities. The best thing with bags being delayed is that you get your luggage delivered to you hotel/AirBnB. You are doing well.
