Grant Amato, 29, stands trial in Seminole County, Florida. He killed his mother Margaret Amato, 61, father Chad Amato, 59, and his brother Cody Amato, 31, after they confronted him for stealing about $200,000 to fund an obsession over a Bulgarian call girl. Charges are three counts of first-degree premeditated murder. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

The three victims were found dead at home last January 25, according to records obtained by Law&Crime. They’d been having problems with the defendant, investigators said. He previously stole about $50,000 from his brother Cody, and $150,000 from their father. Things became so bad that their dad laid down an ultimatum, authorities said: take a 60-day Internet and sex addiction rehab program, or leave home. He only took just shy of two weeks, but was allowed to stay at the residence anyway. He had to follow certain rules–he had to stop communicating with the call girl, authorities said.

Thing allegedly came to a head when the father kicked Grant Amato out of the residence after learning he was stilling keeping in touch with the call girl.

The defendant did not admit to the crime when speaking to authorities.

Towards the end of the interview, while viewing crime scene photos of his dead family members, GRANT AMATO was asked if he had any remorse for the killings of his mother, father and brother. GRANT AMATO’s response was his family had been blaming him for months for ruining their lives, stealing and not following the rules of the home, so he might as well be blamed for this too.

  • Imagine being so reliable and so trust worthy your co workers call the police when you don’t show up for work. Goals

Nice to see Sandra Bullock's a Judge now.

Chris Sisco looks like he wants to slap the hell out of Grant.

Image killing your own parents and kind brother after stealing their money and they not only forgive you they also help you to move forward, all for a woman that you have never even meet in person EVER. Omg, this is mind blowing to me. I don't even want to think they are people like him living in the same world as I do.
  • This RN was a true blue friend of Codys. Sad his brother cut down his rising new job as an Anesthesiologist. RIP to the family.
  • I feel bad for the deputy, you can tell this very much upset him
  • Chris was a great witness. He really helped paint a picture of Codys work life. They were very close friends/co-workers, its not surprising Codys absence triggered Chris to contact the police. Reminds me of the Watts case, a close co-worker/friend with daily contact.

My heart broke for the officer. You can see the pain in his face. It would be hard enough walking in on that when you weren't expecting it but imagine having to rewatch it and describe it in painstaking detail. He was so professional about it.

I can’t imagine how the woman feels who he spends all of his money on. Imagine finding out someone killed their family mostly because of you.

Wow! I love how this judge allows questions from the jury. And they are Good Questions! Just having watched the Rosenbaum trial, this one is a breath of fresh air. This Judge is clear and in control; attorneys are NOT playing word-salad tricks; witnesses are communicating clearly and are allowed to say enough to give the jury understanding and context; and sound equipment is SO much better.

Such a sad situation. My heart can’t help but ache for the surviving older brother.
  • He seems to be having a little trouble forcing those tears out. Wouldn't you go for a handkerchief?. Oh no. He wants everyone to see him crying

When Cody’s fellow CRNA was explaining how he knew Grant, I found it very respectful of him that instead of stating that he had no other contact with Grant when he failed out of the program, he instead just stated he had no further contact with him after so and so date. Seems like a very professional guy not to bring up Grant failing the program.

To think if all the work Cody and his father put in to save a nice little nest egg for themselves, and Baldermort sees it as his own to use to portray himself as a high roller. Just so entitled and spoiled.

Why don't they show pictures? I get the autopsy and crime scene photos, but others. Like the picture of Cody at work? It takes away from the hearing from our point of view. If it's about privacy, why even allow us to see the hearing period?

I can’t understand why medical staff in the US arrive and leave medical establishments wearing their uniforms, scrubs for example. In the UK we arrived in our own clothes, changed into and out of our uniforms at the start and end of shifts. I couldn’t imagine taking home some of the infections and basic crud we came across when on the ward or when working in theatre.
  • Once again we have a defendant with a misshapen head. Always a red flag.

I really hate watching Grant give the puppy dog eyes and cry when viewing the body cam footage. I can't help but feel he's trying to put on a performance for the courtroom if he's going with the story that someone else murdered his family. I see him and can't feel anything other than absolute loathing for this scumbag

If I were watching that video of my parents and brother for the first time....I would be WAILING...not just staring and sniffling.
