Bank of England reveals new bank notes featuring King Charles III

Published 2022-12-21
The Bank of England has revealed the new bank notes featuring the image of King Charles III.

The King's portrait will appear on all four notes – the 5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds.

The monarch's image will be seen on the front, and in the see-through security window on the notes – which are made from polymer plastic.

The Bank has announced the design in the run-up to the King's coronation in May with the new notes entering circulation by mid-2024.

Notes featuring Queen Elizabeth will continue to be used as normal.

Last "dole" the queen asked for past year was £158m due to renovation of her castles. I wonder how much Charles will ask...
  • I can't wait to try this note on my shoes to see if it's gonna clean them

Hope they keep the artists and engravers on staff and working because, let's be realistic, Charles isn't going to be king all that long.

That last King of England, is featured on the last banknote of England. Fitting.
  • Even though the pound has lost value, English bank notes are seriously attractive!
  • Printing more money when there is nothing to back it? The Queens bills hold more true value than his will!

  • I'm not looking forward to that mug being on our coins, I hope they go with someone else on the five dollar note.
  • Still a "wow" moment even though its been a few months now.

Calling the King a Specimen is a bit strong ...
  • Why is one of his eyes going off to the side and the other one straight?

Is he alone on it? Or with Jimmy Saville?
  • Won't be long and we will have him plastered all over our notes , dutiful and obedient colonial 's that we are .
