  • This song makes me think of my older sister. My mom was at rock bottom, spiraling in drug addiction and prostitution and 3 of us were suffering the consequences of that. My sister about 20 years older than me took us one night. She asked us if we wanted to leave that place, and all of us with wide - happy eyes said yes! Her and her boyfriend packed us into a little car and drove us that night from California to Michigan. No looking back. It saved our lives from following suit. Sometimes you gotta listen to what "mama" says- whoever that is to you. Sometimes you gotta be "mama" and climb out of the depths with nothing but a bag to your name. Sending healing and love to anyone reading this. Thank you for this song.
  • My dad was heavy into drugs and my mom was trying to distract us from noticing. She packed us up one night and we moved into a hotel to get away from him. This song resonates with me so much. Reminds me of not knowing what to expect and following your parents around aimlessly. Thank you for the beautiful healing song! 🎼I think about it all the time!! 🎶
  • I changed schools 14 times while growing up thanks to my mother's addictions. I heard a different story with every move. "Abusive boyfreind, bad landlord, bad friends, 'just gotta get out of this town', etc." Things may have changed for her every time, but the only thing that changed for me was the piggy bank of my childhood lost a dollar with every move, and I was slowly robbed of a normal development and lifelong friendships. This song is a soundtrack for my youth. I'm still not a normal man, even at 35 years old, but I am very good at social distancing. I forgive and love my mother, but my childhood is something I'll never get back. Be good to your children and give them the life you wish someone had given you. The world depends on it.
  • Really gnaws at what it's like to be a child and having to deal with the fallout of adult problems... from the eyes of a child. Love it.
  • This song reminds me of my dear son that passed away , and this was the last song that he asked me to listen and I'm still listening love it thank 💯💔💜✝️ .
  • Thank you all so much for listening! LYRICS: Mama said there’s gunna be a flood We gotta pack our bags and go Ohh ohhh Mama said we gotta go right now I don’t wanna go right now Ohh ohhh Mama said we’re going away I’ve never been so far away Ohh ohhh I think about it all the time Ohhh I think about it all the time Mama said we've gotta change the sky So she won’t have to cry Ohh ohhh Mama said we gotta get in that car We gotta get in that car and drive I don’t wanna drive, I don’t wanna drive I don’t wanna drive away ohh Mama said we gotta start a new life I already have a life Ohh ohhh I think about it all the time Ohh I think about it all the time Mama said there’s gunna be a flood We gotta pack our bags and go
  • The tone on the slide is tremendous. Fits her voice and the mood of the song perfectly.
  • Using as my soundtrack for my life right now! I love this woman's voice! Simply amazing
  • You captured my life as a mother of three in a completely toxic relationship of 15 years. . I'm moved to tears by this. I love my children so much. And all that ever mattered was my children and me making sure we left and just as long as we had each other it was enough.... getting away from such horror.. a lot of going back later. Then it would be the same again. Memories flood my mind in hearing this song. Happy ones, some hopeful, some sad and regretful... in the end it worked out We stayed gone. My babies They're my world. I've sent this to them in knowing they will get it. Great song. You are lovely.
  • When my mom first passed away this song popped up as a recommendation. I couldn't help but listen to it non stop for days. She would've loved this song. Thanks for that. ❤❤

I ve lost my mom one year ago, and this song is the only thing that bring me a bit of relief since. Everytime I feel a direct connexion with her listening to this song. Thanks Cat Clyde, I owe you for life ❤

Never heard a song that sums up some of the most traumatic moments of my youth like this one does. When the past just becomes a beautiful song in your present.... feels. 😌
  • This is what I love about YouTube. People post a cool video with a song I've never heard and then bam... find the original and listen to it a hundred times until it's part of my own inner narrative. Thanks Kelly
  • Lost my mom to mental health issues when I was a young boy, never forgot what she used to say when she still had a shine to her eyes..
  • @blueskaee
i live for the guitar sound here it literally made me feel blue in a happy way tho idk does that even make sense?
  • I've listened to this song for month now. And, everytime, it's the same. I play it on repeat and it brings me back to the darkest hours of my childhood. But what's funny, is that it makes me feel free for today! Such an atmosphere, i've to learned that guitar solo !
  • I don't know how anyone could dislike this. It's amazing. ❤
  • Gotta say cat clyde this is one of the most relatable songs ive ever heard right down to my very soul. Vibes of my childhood. Keep it up, please if not for you for people like me.
