  • True tear-jerker. He said he'd crawl to Tokyo for his daughter... that finished me.
  • This story brought me to tears. I'm a die-hard Biles fan, but now I'm rooting just as hard for Suni. I had no idea that such an ordeal her family was living, and yet, she manages to have the current, hardest uneven bars routine there is.
  • "There nothing stopping me. I'll crawl to Tokyo." My heart is sad for the families who sacrificed it all and cannot even go now because of COVID.
  • UPDATE: She just won gold at Tokyo. 🥇❤

I cried for her. It hurts to see a teenager have so much pressure on her. Much love to her. May she reach all her goals.

Update: she’s still competing and won bronze AA in the 2024 PARIS Olympics! Dad was there ☺️
  • I couldn’t hold back the tears from filling up my eyes. She has so much strength to carry this load while balancing school, Olympic training and helping to look after her siblings while Mom checks on Dad. Sunisa you got this, I’m going to be cheering you on every step of the way.
  • I taught Hmong refugees, young and old, in a refugee camp in Thailand during the early 1990's and found Hmong students to be among my most favorites. During 2000's I met a bright doctoral Hmong student in the same class at IU School of Education. And now, a Hmong Olympic Gold medalist! Wow! How amazing!

I feel so sad for John I shed a tear at how supportive he is of Suni even in a bad condition. Every kid needs that kind of love and support from their parent.
  • Life can be so unfair no ironically cruel… she excels at a sport that involves every muscle and unfortunately her father is able to use his arms. Hopefully they’re both doing okay
  • @pris_an
SHE IS SO STRONG. I know she will bring home a gold medal for her dad and make everyone so proud
  • He is walking now and suni is a gold medalist on the biggest stage.
  • Not only does Suni make it to Tokyo, she’ll be bringing home the gold! What a truly remarkable young woman and beautiful family.
  • This brought me to tears, a loving Dad and a daughter who treasures her Dad, old values common amongst Asians.
  • “If you don’t win, you are still #1 in my heart!” 😢❤️ spoken like a loving dad
  • I believe her success has a lot to do with her family support and her hard work.
