Also, it's not 'misinformation' it's called LIES/LYING. Let's just call it out for what it is.
-
We need a truth in media law similar to truth in advertising already in place.
-
Free speech doesn't mean you get to spread dangerous lies that could cost people their lives or damage property.
-
Truth is tyranny in the empire of lies. So who gets to decide what’s true?
-
People should get off social media.
-
Finally! Social media should be held to certain standards.
-
What happens when they find out that the information was correct ? How to they remedy that ?
-
It seems to me that just as the Government has a RESPONSIBILITY to protect the public from unsafe substances in the food supply, and dangerous products in the marketplace, there is a duty to intervene when unsafe, misleading, or provably false information is disseminated to the public in general. Free speech does have its limits where public safety and welfare is involved ed. After all the Preamble does explicitly include "promoting the general welfare" if the people.
-
One more thing, of course you want no information given about the Supreme Court selling justice.
-
I CONSIDER FACEBOOK AND ALL SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS A LETHAL WEAPON
-
And remember it works both ways…lies can end up causing unnecessary suffering and even violence without any basis of truth ….
-
Has it been established how "misinformation" will be flagged and who will have this responsibility? This is the danger.
-
this is concerning if it applies to a whistleblower and they were deemed "false information"
-
Tell us who the 3 judges are that voted for the social media companies.
-
Ok. Only one problem. Who decides what is dis/mis information. The government has shown itself willing to lie and so has big business. And then there are those who believe what they say. Just a meaningless ruling that helps no one but those curious about what the wording of the law means.
-
Who will decide if a piece of information is misinformed?
-
Are you even going to address the actual ruling or just give biased spin?
-
What a dang joke
-
But what does the federal government deem misinformation?
-
I hope that this will be used as precedent to force so-called "news" outlets from spreading misinformation, too.
