Wow, Eva! This is a world class video! This should be on TV . The video, the editing, the filming, the story, the commentary all are just so stunning! It feels like this is the pinnacle of YouTube videos. Wow, just wow!!!!!
  • @thenormie
1:22 that’s my dad!!! (And my uncle to the left). We were talking about you at home and we watched your videos to see what ur content was like and were really impressed. My dad is no longer in Unalaska for the time being but we watched this at home. I loved the video! Keep it up!

Just a correction. Anchorage is not the capital of Alaska but Juneau. Having lived there in Dutch Harbor and Alaska for the last 12 years, it has a beauty of its own. Dutch Harbor is where the commercial fishermen who goes out into the Bering Sea to go crab fishing leaves from there.
  • @johnhowell8228
I fished out of Dutch Harbor in the 90's. It was a great experience. Everything else in life has been easy after that. I wish I could share all of my experiences but it would take too long. It looks like Dutch has changed a lot. The one thing I try to describe to people that ask me about commercial fishing is the feeling of being in a quasi last frontier. Little, to no police. Ingenuity. Being rugged. Loneliness. Always longing for someone or something you miss. Dreaming about your future. It changes people. We called it the Aleutian Stare...lol
  • When I grew up in Alaska, I visited all over the state except for the Aleutians. It is cool to get a peek into life there (pssst Juneau is capital of Alaska, Anchorage is just biggest city).
  • In my younger years I was fortunate enough to spend some time in the Aleutian islands while in the U. S. Coast Guard. I was lucky enough to get to Dutch Harbor, Adak and a few other places. It is absolutely a place you either love or hate. I loved it. It gets in your soul and doesn't leave. I'd love to go back some day. I was only there for a short time, but I miss it. Thanks for traveling out there and sharing this with us, it brings back a lot of good memories.

Words of wisdom from an Alaskan fisherman …” they are either running away from something or towards something “ … very true !
  • @akfroggie2177
I've worked in Dutch Harbor, and the weather must be seen to be believed. The rain falls in every direction but up. But when the sun peeps through, the light is magical and it becomes one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Next season of Deadliest Catch Feat. Eva is gonna be lit!

Definitely dangerous to be on a crab boat around the Bering Sea. A buddy of mine from college was just going to do that for a year to make some extra cash before transferring to another college and he was swept overboard. He was probably around 21 when he lost his life. Huge respect to those guys. Thanks for the video! It looks amazing up there!
  • Hello my name is Peter I grew up in Unalaska! This video made me miss home so much. Morris Cove and that general area is a great place to camp and fish. My people have for thousands of years there as you mentioned. Thank you again for sharing this wonderful video of my home town. 🙂
  • @terrymorgan1623
I am a world traveler but your video was one of the most inspiring and informative I have ever experienced. Please do not quit sharing these experiences, many people are able to enjoy this planet because of what you do. Thank you for sharing!
  • @alberthartl8885
Growing up in Poland and Great Britain did you ever think America included a place like Dutch Harbor? You really earned your exceptional ability visa on this one. National Geographic quality for sure. So glad you are here. ❤
  • @sumitkar8146
Your cinematography, editing and ability to story tell is next level. I have thoroughly enjoyed your vlogs and your USA ones are tremendous- keep up the phenomenal content. We live through your eyes…..
  • @judithgreen3689
This summer has brought us such searing heat - actually, surprisingly, right now the Aleutian Islands look pretty inviting. Aside, from that the green mountains, the beautiful bay- it is visually breathtaking. Eva, you've really outdone yourself, thanks for bringing us to this little known & remote area.
  • @nokeszhale3759
I don't know what's in my head but working in office desk is so stressful. But after watching all this kind of adventurous stuff and listening nature I feel so relax. This is a kind of dreams living out there and explore more .....someday!
  • Eva, you have such a special way of telling a story and I love the genuine curiosity you have when interviewing people. It really comes across in your videos! These days, while everyone seems to be traveling to the same old destinations, you go on your own adventure seeking out the hidden gems on this earth and I frickin love that! 🙌
  • a million thank you´s for your videos! I show them to my 88 year old mother who cannot leave home now. She just smiles and say´s "that lady is great!" . Take care and keep on traveling, greetings from Portugalm hope someday you come to our country!
  • @flightplan1000
Really nice video work! I spent seven years on a research ship with the federal government studying mainly migratory seabirds but pretty much everything else, too. The Aleutian people's culture, whales, sea lions, archaeological digs, the effect of foxes on the ecosystem of the islands, even some military research. Like the people interviewed said, the weather is king. It dictates what you do in almost every aspect of your life here. I was lucky enough to have visited over eighty five islands in the years there, all the way out to Attu at the end of the chain. Besides the daily work ( I was one of two deckhands on the ship in a crew of six) we hiked everywhere, took pictures and video, worked alongside biologists and even got in a day or two of water skiing each season! I often think of the Aleutians as a cross between Ireland and the moon. Oh and Eva, Anchorage isn't the capital of Alaska, Juneau is.
