I've had my fair share of scary experiences over the last 4.5 years of full-time travel. But what just happened at the American border has just made it to my personal top 3 most terrifying ones. What a start to my Pan-American road trip...

This was... unexpected and wild! But I'm happy to put this experience behind me, and look forward to what's sure to be an amazing trip across the USA and beyond! Woohoo 🥳
  • I won't add to all the comments on the border crossing - not to downplay it, but because I feel that Primy (?) and his family deserve some more mentions. Such a lovely and welcoming family. It's amazing what lengths they went to to make your comfortable. This is what renews my faith in humanity.
  • As a native Texan, as soon as I saw you planned to go through Nuevo Laredo, and enter into Laredo, I was concerned. That is one of the most intense border crossings on our Texas/Mexico border. If you had gone through Matamoros, Mexico/Brownsville, TX, your experience would have been much better. Sorry that happened to you. You just happened to pick a very dangerous part of Mexico on your way here. I just found your channel tonight and I love your positive attitude.

I’m Mexican and I was having anxiety watching you blog leaving your car door open. I could just see someone hopping on and driving off with it. Yes fir the most part People are very nice, but don’t relax so much and always be aware of your surroundings.
  • I’m from Texas and I have actually lived in Alaska for 6 years now and I have to say I am so sorry that your American adventure started out that way, I’m glad you didn’t let that ruin your time or your views on America. And I just love your positivity, watching your videos makes me want to go for a run and to be that much more friendly to strangers. Keep up your awesomeness
  • I lived in mexico 10 years. You’re friends were very correct in helping you get to where you needed to be, without making a wrong turn.

Primy and his entire family were the most welcoming I have seen on your tours! That bar-b-q vegan food looked amazing! I'm so glad they escorted you out as well! Safe travels Eva!!!
  • You crossed through Laredo??? Alone???? The dad side of me was FREAKING OUT. That's such a dangerous place even after you get across the border, it's sketchy in a lot of areas.

I am an American Veteran and I went through something close to that coming back into the US after a trip to Canada. I had to remove EVERYTHING from truck... and after about an hour or so, with the same kinds of questions as you experienced, I was told to reload my truck and drive away. This was in 2018.... They saw my Veterans ID card and everything, and they STILL put me through the ringer. I guess when you're the Border Patrol you can do crap like that. I think they were just bored....
  • I've only just discovered your channel and I'm working backwards thru your vids. I want to say first off as an American who's tried, and lived among only spanish speaking folk that I am impressed with your ability at languages. 2nd, I'm completely envious at your ability to to travel and see all the places I've seen on your channel ( while scanning thru). No location is exactly how it's portrayed, it's the individuals when you get there that make the difference. And I've noticed that you give reasonable and logical advice on personal safety for travelling alone and I , as the father of 4 girls and 5 boys, greatly appreciate that. I am honestly addicted to watching what you share. As a truck driver, I love driving... anywhere. This trip from mexico to Alaska, going on rt 66.... I'm only hoping I can manage to retire and make that dream happen for me, in the meantime... please continue. safely. So I and others like me can live vicariously through you! Edit... Primy was an amazing person! SO generous and hospitable.
  • I discovered you because of your Texas video, and I have to tell you how impressed I am by your courage and sense of adventure. I write thriller novels, and you remind me of one of my female protagonists. Which is my way of saying you're a strong character!  Keep it up! I'm looking forward to following your journey. Stay safe, stay bold, and stay adventurous.

Eva, you're the sweetest thing, and with all these stressful situations you trigger the "fixt it" gene that guys sem to have, but obviosuly you're more than capable! Also, you have a really good Spanish accent, so that, plus your English, plus your Polish and who knows what else, you have a talent for languages! you go girl. :)
  • Thank God you're still alive, and you made it across the border. Please don't let your guard, down. Praying that you will be safe in this big world. Love you sweetie.

As a US Citizen and have traveled. The only Customs Officer that has hassled me have been US Customs. Like you crossing into the US from Canada pulling a boat. The boat and truck were completely emptied onto the floor of a building. Taken into a room and questioned asking the same questions by different people. Forced to undress and given a search of my body. I was at the boarder for over 4 hours. After the ordeal I had to repack the truck and boat.

I am so sorry that happened to you. As an American I was detained and handcuffed flying in to Paris a few years ago because my name was similar to someone that was wanted. The frightening part was no one would tell me why I was being held until they let me go.
  • It’s amazing how one can feel that they belong in a completely unknown location. That is beautiful ❤️
  • I love that you got to stay with a local family! That was the highlight of this video for me. My family hosted exchange students for many years during my childhood and I think it’s a beautiful way to learn about other cultures. ❤
  • @Spaceyb0t
I’m actually from Laredo and woah! It’s crazy but very brave of you to have come through and driven in from Nuevo Laredo. This area is really very dangerous in terms of cartel movement and trafficking. Happy to see you made it through!
