The F 150 Lightning is likely the most workhorse of all the EV trucks. But it's not without issues. Ford CEO Jim Farley recently showed off the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, a concept electric truck, but it also exposed some of the standard and extended range Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum shortcomings!

EV trucks are groundbreaking, and the F-150 Lightning is one of the most matured and mainstream, filling even the work truck role quite successfully. But being a first-adopter myself, I can attest that this vehicle still has its glitches. Let me know what you think about the Lightning in the comments below, or if you are a Lightning owner and have had your own challenges or interesting experiences. Thanks for watching!

good video! Very informative, I like the little details that other channels don't discuss. Liked and Subscribed.

We've yet to crack 1000km on our F150. You've hit every glitch we've come up against. First thought...must be me.... second thought... WTF ...there's something wrong here. Love the truck but, as you've said, there's a long way to go for Ford to achieve a seamless (or less unseemly) integration of software tools. Hanging in there. We were previous Tesla owners. The difference in integration of on-board and OTA updates is ridiculous. There's got to be a Ford team hard at a solution ..... there is, right? Great humour touch, much appreciated. Carry on

you're not lying. all your comments are valid. love the editing. top notch. for that I will subscribe......well done.
  • I went from a Tesla model Y to a Lightning and I cried during the first night of ownership! I was asking myself : What have I done?? The software is STRESFULL!! I warmed up to the new truck in the next few days, mainly because of the ride quality and because humans can adapt... I agree with everything you said, I hope that FORD will listen to us, great video!
  • @BuckRogers2000
Awesome contribution! I hope you don't lose on this truck, the resale values aren't good. I'm hoping to take advantage in the way of an almost-to-auction unused auction.
  • @willp.9731
This is interesting, at least as far as the things that relate to actual ownership of the truck, because I've had my platinum for a few months and I've experienced none of that. The only real issue I have had was with Android Auto and it turns out that that was an issue with the phone that I had at the time. I've upgraded since then and have had effectively no problems. Maybe they will crop up later.

The bed size and obligatory crew cab is a pain for all us who use a truck for work. Could I have a truck with a super cab, a 8 ft bed, and extended range battery please? That said, the frunk partly makes up for it and is a huge upgrade over a ICE ford with a 5.5 bed. Software is the bane for modern auto ICE and otherwise. We just got a model Y and wouldn't consider any of the competitors for that reason.

Btw. Love all your animation when videoing. Lol. The console lid part was funny!!! I put nickels into the springs and it helped. But what a stupid way to fix something on a $60k truck.
  • @user_romanport
I drive a 2010 F-150 and love it. That being said, all of Ford's new trucks frustrate me to no end. It seems like none of them are made for work anymore. I don't ever want a crew cab but Ford seems to think otherwise. Additionally, like you said, from my experience with my boss' 2021 F-150 the software is awful. He's had problems with HD Radio in his truck which is a problem when we work in radio broadcast engineering for HD stations! I wish someone would just make an affordable basic pickup truck again. I don't want all these extra screens and buggy software
  • Good stuff. I agree with most of it. Good thing half of this stuff can be changed via OTA updates.
  • @Skotty64081
I would like to see a 6 foot bed option. I don't like the back up beep and I especially don't like the frunk beep; i'd rather have a manual open/close frunk just so it wouldn't beep. The rear seat vents don't really work; you have to close most all of the front vents to get noticeable air blowing to the rear vents. I agree with it being annoying that you can't override charge settings when desired. Those are my complaints.
  • @GONAVYCHIEF
Love my Lightening Platinum just the way it is. Ford did an outstanding job.
  • @rxibot
Yeah I want a two-door short bed! I don't need four doors to remind me how lonely I am :-( lol
  • I'm torn. I have a lot of quibbles about your information but damn, it was entertaining! I'm definitely amused.
  • @keithmccloud6722
The console is an issue with all the f150. I drove Platinum and it was nice inside.
  • @russ9563
pls add more camera shifts, one million is not enough lol
  • @originalboxcar
Good review Ty. Yep, legacy’s SW blows and EVs definitely are rolling computers on steroids. They need to start from scratch honestly and maybe just maybe recognize tesla as the true leader and copy their model. Will u keep ur lightning for a while? Is it meeting ur needs?
  • @FT-64
#2 is the worst, and it's not just the Lightning. PLEASE, Ford (and every other manufacturer), sell me a new car that DOES NOT have auto-braking, adaptive cruise, and all of the other "tech" junk that doesn't work, and that nobody asked for in the first place. Forcing drivers to have to disable it explicitly every single time they get in the car is insulting, as well. If I turn something off on MY vehicle, it is because I don't want it turned on. Again, it is MY vehicle, not YOURS.
