REDESIGNING HAZBIN HOTEL (is scary) (lets talk about it, lavendertowne, speedpaint, commentary)

I personally like the idea of Vaggie looking more muscular, like a muscular chubby kinda vibe! Sense in the show she was an exterminator and exterminators are meant to fight so I feel like she would’ve trained very often hence why she was still muscular, but still a little bit chubby since chub is never a bad idea :3

I feel like redesigns could help point out flaws of characters like I forget that angel dust is a spider demon and I’ve seen redesigns that give them the spider butt thing and it makes his character a whole lot better, but I understand why that wasn’t a design option because animating his butt thing would be hard😭 Edit:To be clear idk how to animate so all animation is going to seem hard for me

My main gripes with Vivs designs is that, as an animator, they’re VERY animation unfriendly. Husk doesn’t need a billion alternating dots on his wings, the fact the reds of the main characters clothes are generally the same saturation as the background makes it difficult to distinguish, and all the intricate patterns are incredibly annoying to keep on model even with the use of pre-made rigs. Your Husk is by far my fave redesign of the bunch, not just for fixing things like the wings, but actually helping him stand out!! He looks like someone who died in the 70s, whilst still keeping that gambling/magician aspect in

Your Husk is so cool, i also agree that Husk shouldn't be thin, considering that he's canonically an alcoholic! Giving him a beer belly makes him soo much cooler imo :3 Really good video

The Vivziepop fandom is so frustrating, istfg I still can't believe people are bullying artists for imagining the characters differently. Just like I can't believe they hate on people who have, heaven forbids, the audacity to say the show isn't as good.

The whole lavendertowne thing doesn't really phase me, I can understand people being a bit upset that her video dropped in terms of quality and standards. However, the art community as well as internet fandoms in general are HORRIBLE. The Hazbin Hotel fandom is not immune to the toxic mob majority. Your designs are unique and have a ton of personality without being overwhelming. I'm not a Hazbin/Helluva/Vivzi fan by any means but her concepts are fun to use for practicing character design/redesigning.

I think vizzie’s problem with her characters is the lack of variety she has very bad same face syndrome but with clothing,body shapes, and color

An artist is literally allowed to draw something that’s not ascetically pleasing. It’s simple as that. Absolutely everyone is allowed to have bad art days. Even if those bad art days happen to occur when they criticize a popular show. Drawing ugly art is not a crime.

my biggest issue with lavendertownes designs is the lack of detail and quality, and they arent faithful enough to the characters in my opinion. definitely poorly researched but we all make mistakes and she took the video down and is working to make new designs so i really dont think she did anything wrong on that front btw your redesigns are some of the best ive seen, very well researched and detailed!!!! i especially enjoy your alastor!! and i think the minty green for angel dust is a nice touch

I think Alastor is still missing something. I like the colors and art but the problem I aways had with Alastor personally was that he was (according to live streams) half-creole and therefore he was supposedly,,,, half-black and that affected his backstory I wished that maybe in the hair that was represented more (especially in the show)

For Vaggie, it was confirmed she was supposed to be the protector of the hotel, so I think you should make an outfit for that kind of role, I don’t see her in that kind of outfit you have put her in would be great in combat! [Please note, this is feedback and an opinion I wanted to give back!]

I'm pretty certain alot of the hate also came from the fact that lavender is already heavily disliked in the artist community (I can not remember why) so my theory is that alot of people were just quick to jump on a hate bandwagon against someone they already disliked.

Because all of the Hazbin characters have the same body type (or most of them atleast) I just took the main cast and spun a wheel for diff body shapes for my redesigns. It works.

I love the idea you went for with Vaggie’s design but because that Vaggie was an exorcist she didn’t technically die in 2014 in the actual show. but it could still work as that being her cover story like the moth motif that she just ran with to be like “oh yeah totally I just loved moths when I was alive”

love your art :)) !!!! honestly don't really care for hazbin bc i dont really like the creator but charlie is voiced by erika henningsen who was cady on mean girls broadway and i love her voice a lot so!! i think its cool that they got a lot of popular singers on there but yknow . i've seen things about the person behind the show and representation, etc etc... so yeah :-)

I REALLY like your Vaggie. The body type just feels more like how she looks in my head when I look back on the show than the actual design, if that makes sense?
