February 1, 2015 - Tom Brady leads the Patriots on 2 TD drives leading to a 28-24 lead late in the 4th Quarter of Super Bowl 49. However, in the last drive of the game, Russell Wilson drives the Seahawks all the way down to the Patriots 1 yard line with a couple of clutch completions and an unbelievable catch by WR Jermaine Kearse. However, on 2nd & Goal from the 1, Patriots CB Malcolm Butler intercepts Wilson sealing the Patriots Super Bowl win and the 4th title in the Brady-Belichick era.

One of the worst parts of losing this way, is that you did it against Tom brady. Meaning you will be put in every documentary and know forever as a part of his legacy.

Malcolm Butler has without a doubt made the single most clutch play in NFL history, still to this day. I cant believe that play call by Caroll but to undercut the route the way Butler did is just unreal.
  • Did anyone notice Hightower taking out beast mode on the play before butler. He benched a line man and tackled lynch with one arm on the one yard line. One of the most underrated plays in history.
  • Brady made FOUR more Super Bowls after this. Absolutely insane.

Pete Carroll finally brought the championship to New England he promised in 1996.....  a man of his word.   Thanks Pete.
  • Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman were so awesome together! And we still love you here in New England Malcolm!!!

Edelman was the key part of the 3 Super Bowl wins, dude clutch AF

    It's 2021 and I still can't believe they didn't run the ball...

Malcolm Butler went from an undrafted rookie working at Popeyes to a Super Bowl hero!!! Never give up on your dreams!!!
  • This was the dream team. Brady, Gronk, and Edelman. I will forever miss this :(
  • This is still the best Super Bowl ever in my opinion. The Patriots comeback against the Falcons was pretty cool to watch, but this game was close all the way through, had several lead changes and was heart stopping.

Just came back from 2078, they too can''t believe Seattle didn't run.

Every time the pats play in the sb some kind of crazy shit happens lol
  • FACT This was the first time in 6 seasons Seattle #1 defense gave up 4 TD's passing and +400 yards passing in a game .. Which shows you how incredible Brady was.. (For Context) they held Manning to 8 points in the SB the year before..
  • Often overlooked but an absolutely amazing play was actually on the play just before the interception - watch again Hightower’s tackle on Marshawn Lynch. Belichick and others actually comment on it in the “Do Your Job” video from NFL films. Hightower literally bench presses a guy off him and dives at Lynch to stop him on the half yard line. If he doesn’t do that, there is no chance for that AMAZING interception. I don’t think I will ever tire of seeing Malcolm Butler make that catch.❤😊
  • It's 2019 and I still can't believe they didn't run the ball...

"They're not in yet". How right he was.

I have been a Patriots fan for years. Every time I get sulky remembering how they blew their perfect season, I think of this game. I,too, believe that Malcolm Butler made the greatest clutch play in NFL history. I screamed when he intercepted Russell Wilson!
