I Watched **PUSS IN BOOTS** For The First Time & It Was AWESOME (Movie Reaction & Commentary)

A great origin story for a great legend This movie is pretty underrated in my opinion, with good comedy, great characters, and a great soundtrack, all of which The Last Wish turns up to eleven and adds so much more. Overall, a very solid film.

Here's the real brilliance of Humptys ending: He didn't die. He became a golden egg for saving the baby. It was never his destiny to steal the golden eggs. It was his destiny to BE a golden egg.

What do Humpty Dumpty in this movie and Death in Puss In Boots The Last Wish have in common? ... They were always there

Puss in Boots is really underrated! But I do admit that it does look a bit weird looking back at it after watching The Last Wish. Everything changed in the sequel from the animation, the much tighter story, higher stakes, and the antagonist. Also, the scene where they show Humpty hiding in the shadows, revealing that he was always there during flashbacks never fails to make me laugh.

Speaking of cats fighting people with swords. I saw a video on YouTube years ago about a dog who enjoyed sword-fighting with his owner. My memory of the exact details may be a bit off, but from what I recall, the guy and his girlfriend (I believe) would often spar with each other, and the dog would always get super into it and want to be part of it. To the point where they actually got him a custom-made wooden sword with a handle he could comfortably hold in his mouth. Allowing him to fight with them.

Ok, but am I the only one who gets Hupmty's character? I feel like a lot of people gloss over that; Humpty was an outcast from the very beginning(from what the movie implies) and Puss was not only the first one to stand up for him, but to also befriend him. Yes we see troughout the movie that he was (and still kinda is) a bit narcisistic, but let's be honest, what kid wasn't? Humpty saw his hometown as a place that brought him nothing but pain so he decided to find a better place for him and puss, the only good part of his life. That's also the cause for his criminal behaviour. But then when puss starts to get praised, he also starts distancing from Humpty, seeing him as more of a burden then a friend(from Humpty's perspective), even tough we know puss was only trying to help him. Again, his hometown brought him nothing but pain, and he didn't see a point in trying to "redeem" himself to a place that didn't even give him a chance (thus getting the mother of the golden goose to destroy it...) To Humpty, puss, his best friend, was beginning to side with the rest of the town insted of him and that's why he felt he needed to bring buss "back on track". Now this doesn't JUSTIFY his actions, but it does explain where he is coming from and WHY he did it, which is what makes him very simpathetic for me. He has the wrong mindset, but a clear cause for such mindset to be formed. That also leads to puss explaining how he never stopped valuing their friendship, how he is right to be mad at puss for his "betreyal", but he doesn't need to destroy the town full of innocient people, and (since pusses friendship was all that mattered to him) this leads to him trying to CORRECT his wrongdoing for once, and sacrificeing himself in the process... Humpty was by far my favorite character in the movie because of this, it's fine if you dissagree, but you should at least consider what i just said.

Humpty’s redemption also didn’t work for me (if that wasn’t clear 😂) and weighs down the movie for me. It frustrated me the first time I saw it when it came out, and it still did when I rewatched it (for the first time ever) before the second I definitely conisder the second one better, but I still have a soft spot for this one (excluding Humpty) bc it’s more of a Western; a positive of my rewatch was reliving my enjoyment of that

Here's a good thing to keep in mind: Shrek primarily focuses on fairy tales Puss in Boots primarily focuses on Nursery Rhymes There is also some overlap. That's why you see people like Humpty Dumpty, Little Boy Blue, and Bo Peep in here, and Jack Horner in the sequel.

This was planned as a self-contained spin-off of the Shrek franchise to explore Puss' origins. Puss himself is pretty much the only character that shows up in the Shrek movies. P.S. I highly recommend watching the other 2 Shrek movies. 3 is the weakest but it's not nearly as bad as many fans claim it is. And 4 is arguably the most emotional of the Shrek movies in terms of character development. They are planning on making a 5th movie but not much reliable information is out on it yet.

I really think you're missing out a lot by not watching the last two Shrek movies, and really should consider watching them despite what others are saying about it! Shrek the Third is way too over-hated, and Shrek Forever After is my personal favorite out of the entire franchise (Including Puss in Boots movies!)

That's valid to feel no connection to Humpty bc of how much he was betraying Puss. Redeeming such characters rarely works. But idk, I was personally invested bc of Puss' part in the relationship. Yeah, it is toxic to just forgive someone who betrayed you multiple times already. I guess Humpty at least helped at the end and idk, he was just funny for me. The creators tried to show the cool side of him as a dreamer and an inventor, and how he was visibly regretting betraying Puss. But it's not something that can work on many people.

Do you have any idea what they do to eggs in prison?? I tell you this it ain't over easy 🤣 that has to be the best line in this movie. Hey you like cats how about watching the movie cats & dogs??

Hansel and Gretel were siblings, I'm pretty sure the relationship between Jack and Jill was never specified. I think those are the characters people are getting mixed up.
