Two of the finest chess players in the world of chess Vishy Anand and Levon Aronian were present at the Tata Steel Chess India 2021. We took this opportunity to ask them their thoughts about Firouzja's meteoric rise in the world of chess. When we spoke with Anand, Firouzja had not yet crossed 2800 Elo. While interviewing Aronian, he had just crossed it an hour ago!

Fun fact: When Alireza started playing chess, Magnus was already World #1.
  • I once checked ratings from 2000 to 2020 . I saw Levon aronian constantly at world 2 and kept a rating of 2800 for a long time . Even in 2013 when Vishy played his immortal against him he was 2800+ . Such a legend . Thanks for playing in India
  • To break 2800 at the age of 18 is something but to get such high praise from Vishy is altogether another level of achievement! Very happy for him.
  • @whoisbhauji
"when you lose points for drawing against Grischuk, you are at a different level" :D
  • @geonikhil
Alireza has BROKEN the 2800 mark by defeating Shak! Phenomenal!
  • @dhanush9681
aronian lol😂😂 - 'I would like challenge him and win some of his rating'
  • @SoulmateParis
Both Aronian and Vishy are great players and great people ! Thanks
  • @hardikkalia8744
The smile both Vishy and Levon gave when just heard the name of alireza from Sagar speaks how these GMs appreciate the young talent…both beaming smiles!!
  • Anand looked so pleased and kind when he talked about Alireza so respectful.🙌🙌🙌
  • @studdpuppy85
The thing with Alireza is he plays to win games and will only draw if that is only option. That fighting spirit is what makes world champions.
  • After his loss to Magnus in R6 of Norway Chess, he finished that tournament with 4 wins in a row. If you count the last 4 games of Norway Chess then 11 games in Grand Swiss and 9 games of European Ch, his score is +17-1=6 and and he has gained 50 rating points which is insane for a +2700 player.
  • @VARMOT123
he got his GM title in april 2018.he was close to 15 years then . it is not even like he was 12 or 13 when he got the GM title and 15 to 18 months of no OTB chess and he gained 300 elo points in 2 years . insane stuff
  • it is so wonderful to see legendary Anand with great commentary. Also many thanks for the unrestrained Aranyan
  • 1:01 Subconsciously in his mind Magnus is gonna win Nepo lol. But when asked, all these super GMs will be diplomatic.
  • @9438619154
He already crossed 2800 .. defeated mamidiarov in a crazy end game
  • Fun fact : When Alireza was born, Vishy had already become a world chess champion, it shows the longeivity of Vishy and how chess is becoming more and more a teenager's game.

As an Iranian and someone who knows him, should not be happy seeing him playing for another flag. But life is like that, you cannot imprison a talent. Thanks ChessBase India for the coverage and nice videos as always.
