📖 Follow along with the official Bible in a Year Reading Plan: tinyurl.com/yyxnlbaq

Fr. Mike breaks down David's tragic downfall as he commits adultery with Bathsheba and kills her husband, Uriah the Hittite. We learn that David's road to grave sin began with small acts of disobedience and selfishness. Today's readings are 2 Samuel 11, 1 Chronicles 14-15, and Psalm 32.

We hear everyday from our community how The Bible in a Year helps to capture hearts and souls for Christ. While we’re happy to make it free to our audience, it’s not free to create! It takes a significant investment to produce the podcast and distribute it free-of-cost to the public. You can make a gift of financial support to help defray these costs and enable us to keep bringing evangelizing digital media to all those searching for God: tinyurl.com/yjoyaeow Thank you for your support.

Just found out my youngest brother's wife had a stroke early Saturday morning. Please keep all of his family in your prayers. Not only will he have to help her, but he also will be a caregiver for her father who has a bad lung disease, and an elementary aged adopted son who had to have his legs lengthened just recently and he is having to learn to walk all over again. He has an awful lot on his plate, please pray for all of them.
  • Please pray for my brother Gary soul.he had not been to confession. Communion or church in over 50 years and he died yesterday.

This one really hit deep today. A great message for everyone that good people still make mistakes. Let us forgive others as God does, as only he is allowed to be the final judge. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.
  • Yes, we are all broken. David's failure mirrors our own. We need to reconcile with God.
  • Thank you Father Mike for the translation of this. Thank you dear God for never giving up on me. I like David am a sinner. 🙏

A Catholic Prayer .... Dear Jesus, today we wish to live in you, in your grace, in which we desire at all costs to persevere. Keep us from sin and strengthen our will, by helping us to keep watch over our imagination, our senses and our hearts. Help us to correct our faults which are the source of sin. We beg you to do this, oh Jesus, through Mary, your Immaculate Mother. Amen ! 💒

Thanks be to God we can be forgiven of any sin. But we still have to pay for them in Purgatory. 🙏JMJ
  • That was an amazing commentary by Fr. Mike. Thank you for that, Father if you read this. You really nailed it - again. I am truly journeying through this “podcast” and walking with you all in the way of salvation……….
  • I love your interpretaion or comments on the bible, especially today's. I never knew that David was supposed to have gone to the war for his people. I didn't know that the all kings had to fight for the people. Thank you for showing the procedres how one committed a mortal sin. What a shame and injustice that the righteous man as Uriah god killed.
