Marcia Clark with Cynthia McFadden on Blood Defense (Full Talk)

Published 2016-06-01
Legendary O.J. Simpson trial prosecutor Marcia Clark joins the 92nd Street Y Talks circuit.

Since leaving her famous post at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office in the mid-90s, Clark has become a bestselling crime novelist. Her new book, Blood Defense, draws upon Ms. Clark’s own experience in the courtroom. It is the first book in a new series about a young, ambitious defense attorney who is looking for her big break when she lands the case of a decorated police detective charged with the murder of a beloved TV star. Our 92Y audience will have the unique opportunity to ask Marcia Clark about her current work and her thoughts on reliving the trial of the century through the lens of the latest O.J. Simpson miniseries. NBC News Senior Legal and Investigative Correspondent Cynthia McFadden is the perfect person to moderate our event. McFadden occupied the ABC News seat in the O.J. Simpson courtroom from start to finish, and has won all of journalism’s highest honors for her coverage of legal and human rights issues.

Excellent interview, thank you, Marcia. Justice lost a strong advocate and the people a champion when you left your office.

Dear Hollywood, PLEASE adapt her crime novels into a series!!! A fictionalized version of herself as a ballsy defense attorney handling crazyass cases??? YES PLEASE!!!!!!! She is brilliant, fascinating, and I knew it from day one watching that trial every single DAY in high school. I grew up in Orange County and was friendly with the Brown family and Nicole is buried across the street from my childhood home, and we waited for OJ when he fled at the cemetery and saw the Bronco speed off because of the media and the Bronco chase literally started in my neighborhood, so we were all understandably and immediately glued to every second of the trial.

Marcia Clark is a charming, articulate and intelligent woman. I really enjoyed this.
  • Judge Ito was the worst judge they could have got for this case, the defense played him like a fiddle

I love Marcia Clark, she's a great role model. So sweet, intelligent and engaging!
  • I was pretty young but I distinctly remember how the media vilified her. Judge Ito, I didn’t realize at the time, treated her in the shittiest way as well.
  • @lenwelch2195
She was the only one in that trial who was and aimed to tell the truth. She was surrounded by liars and evil. Anyone who defends a guilty man slicing up a woman and a young man. Marcia was the third victim. Everyone forgot about Nicole andRon. Ito never held the line.

Marcia was a great prosecutor, I'm sure she's a great lawyer as well. She lost OJ trial because people couldn't believe he did, but he did. Her books are amazing!
  • Loved this interview - and those audience questions were ALL very good.
  • @ayyyce

Well rounded, well moderated interview; congratz to both Ms. McFadden and Ms. Clark.
  • Throughout it all Marcia, you've always been level headed, remained respectful and demonstrate a very good sense of humor amidst some pretty heavy criticism. You're awesome, I love you from Nome, Alaska

  • @JBthree24
Amazing interview with two amazing women.
  • Crazy how she sums up the case and evidence so simply and conclusive, and yet he was found innocent. Painful after all these years.
  • Fabulous interview. Both intelligent beautiful women. I just ordered her novel "Blood Evidence" and can't wait to read it. I applaud Marcia Clark for becoming a novelist after the OJ trial.
