This song is 50 years old. Still evocative and simply beautiful.

When this song was released in 1968, life was young, good friends and laughter ruled the day; nothing but pleasant memories here. Thank you, James Taylor.

  • I love James Taylor. He is a national treasure. And the 5 downvotes...you must not have a soul/heart.
  • I am rediscovering James Taylor, appreciating his finger picking style, and the warmth of maturity in his voice. Thank you!

One of my first record buys when I was young. Sweet Baby James. Some remarks about an elderly mans voice...well, listen to the song...the voice carries it perfectly. I am glad you are still with us James!
  • Man, even in his seventies still spreading musical bliss, how incredible :D Its also heartwarming to see how, even though his voice may not be what it used to be, his technique on the guitar still seems impeccable
  • Guy who rose to the top, sank to rock bottom, and re-built. Inspiring human being.

As a Carolina son, this song almost makes me well up and makes me miss home.

This man and his songs are timeless. When I was in school as a teenager in New Zealand studying for exams my best friend and I would put on her Mum’s CD of James Taylor’s Greatest Hits or Best Of, whatever. We would put it on loop and quietly chill, sing along and do our homework. Her mum tragically died a few years ago but I will forever associate this music with that amazing woman ❤️

there are very few guitarists in the world that are instantly recogniseable.. this man is one of them..
  • There seems to be a really nice amount of love and respect between James and the backing singers. It's nice to see.

James Taylor's always been a favorite of mine. He still sounds great. Hope he's ok.

It was almost overwhelming to hear James Taylor play this song on Colbert. His voice is still as pure and angelic as ever. I was privileged to listen to James Taylor on my sister's very fine stereo in the 70's while I visited them during summers and they were stationed in Germany. There is no better way to enjoy beautiful memories.

My how time flies. It was only yesterday that I was a teenager, listening to James Taylor at a concert in St Louis. 1969. Thanks James. You made life better.
