How to Play a Smooth Arpeggio - Tuesday Tip - Piano

Published 2021-11-30
Having trouble getting your arpeggios to sound clean and smooth? Then this week's Tuesday Tip is just the thing for you!

Mp Piano Instructor, Gabrielle Siena, walks us through how she mastered her arpeggios. A good scale or arpeggio is one of the most difficult things to play on the piano, so these tips can help you develop the fine motor control you need for performing repertoire well. Start out slow and work your way up to a faster tempo. Remember to always practice with a metronome! 🥰🎹✨

Hi, Gabrielle! Greetings from a broiling hot São Paulo, Brazil - and also a belated Happy New Year to you! I hope 2024 is off to a great start! I just watched your video and found it a bit different the fingering suggested for the LH (5, 3, 2 and 1, if I got it correctly). It turns out, though, that my piano teacher taught me the fingering 5, 4, 2 and 1. Not sure if you ever gave this fingering a whirl, but if you did, I would be interested to know your thoughts on this. Well, I should get going now. Work is a-calling and it won't get done by itself. Please keep it up and have a good one!
