Don Johnson was born on December 15, 1949, in Flat Creek, Missouri. His journey to stardom was an unusual and unexpected one but it eventually led him to become one of the most popular actors in American cinema and television. Don Johnson's breakthrough came in the 1980s when he starred as Detective Sonny Crockett in the popular television series "Miami Vice." His portrayal of the suave and stylish detective not only made him a star but helped him influence popular culture. Don Johnson had an eye for fashion and the clothing he wore on the show made him an icon throughout the country.

Following the success of "Miami Vice," Johnson's career flourished both on the small and big screens. He ventured into film with memorable roles in movies such as "Dead Bang," "Tin Cup," and "Django Unchained." He also gained fame with another TV role in the show “Nash Bridges.” He had no problem acting in both cinema and television and had equal success in both mediums.
He is one of the few actors who has been able to create great characters in both mediums as well. He has also maintained longevity and is as much a star today as he was back in the 1980s when he first blew up in the acting scene.

Throughout his life, Johnson has received critical acclaim and numerous accolades for his work. He won a Golden Globe award for his role in "Miami Vice" and received several Emmy nominations. But despite the numerous successes in his career, his personal life has often been troubled. It’s been a wild ride involving women, drugs, and BILLIONS of dollars!

His character Sonny Crockett inspired me as a kid to become a police officer. I have been a cop on the south side of Chicago for almost 20 years. Till this day, I still go up to my summer place sometimes alone, and binge on Miami Vice it brings me such comfort. I love Miami Vice!!!!

Some people just have Charisma and Don Johnson is one of those people... met him many years ago in Miami and it's just a gift when you have that magnetism. Everyone around him felt it and they loved it. Whatever he did... a lot of what people do in life revolves around the company they keep and it can be surprising even for the person in the middle of it...
  • Don Johnson is and always will be so so cool. Growing up in the 1980’s Miami vice was miles ahead of anything else on TV at the time and made him a style icon that’s stuck with him right up to the present day. And don’t forget Philip Michael Thomas too. But yes Don Johnson is the king of cool. Even at 73 years old.
  • I had a couple sockless years in high school thanks to this guy. He has aged very well.
  • Thanks for this! I've had a crush on Don Johnson since Miami Vice premiered in 1984. He'll still be good looking when he's 90. He and PMT were born to play Crockett and Tubbs and together they made TV history ♥️😎
  • SO GLAD TO SEE THIS! Don is a great guy to work with, thankfully I see he's doing well now. Celebrities like him take a real beating after they pay their bills and little is left - sounds hard to believe. Wonderful actor a real pro.
  • Being from Wichita, I’ve followed Don’s and Kirsty Alley’s career since they began. Glad to see Don in good health and getting good roles
  • Met him at Kansas university in the 90's, very nice guy. He took the time to talk to me even though his security tried to run me off.
