The Waqf Act was passed in 1954, and amended in 1995 and again in 2013 to grant governing Boards more powers to designate Waqf properties.
The NDA government is all set to amend the act.
According to its statement of objects and reasons, the bill seeks to omit Section 40 of the current law relating to the powers of the board to decide if a property is Waqf property.
The bill has proposed far-reaching changes in the present Act, including ensuring the representation of Muslim women and non-Muslims in Waqf Boards.

This board is far more cruel and has extreme powers, if there is any issue that person can't even challenge that in supreme court of India. This Board must be transparent OR abolished.

I think including non-Muslims in the Waqf board could be controversial. Because someone could ask same for non-Hindus in Hindu temple management. Other amendment seem alright.
  • @SunilShahu17
Tomorrow WAQF can come to your home or farmland and claim it's their property. And you can do nothing about it except vacate it! You are 2nd class citizen against WAQF in Secular India!

Why not boards for each religion and then for each caste. Why only minorities should have separate boards. Does minorities in other country also has any board similar to this.
  • How can a waqf board has 3rd largest property after defence and railway? If any one can answer this simple question? Especially hindus should answer this question.

Repeal Waqf act passed by Congress in 1995/2013. No other community has such a law and Muslims can't have such a law only for themselves. Either others have similar statues or no one has. All properties marked Waqf since 1995/2013 without a sale deed needs to be seized by government immediately. Any property illegally occupied by the Muslim board needs to be forcefully vacated and occupies prosecuted and thrown in jails.
