A touching, moving, heartbreaking scene from Dallas TNT Season 2 Episode 8 ("JR's Masterpiece")

Sue Ellen gives a moving eulogy to the love of her life, ex-husband, J.R. Ewing and reads out the love letter JR wrote her shortly before his death.

The song played during JR's funeral: "Down To The River To Pray" by Alison Krauss

Linda Gray is brilliant in every episode of Dallas TNT. She gives an incredible, so moving, heart-wrenching, absolutely outstanding performance in this scene. Hope she gets recognized by the Emmys this year! She deserves an Emmy for her amazing work on Dallas TNT, especially for her incredible performance in the episode "JR's Masterpiece"!

Linda Gray is incredibly underrated as an actress. The character is probably one of the most complex women on TV in the last 40 years. Loving wife, psychologically damaged, alcoholic, businesswoman – sometimes all four at the same time. Even when the writing wasn’t that good - she was still a standout.

If this isn't acting, nothing is....standing ovation Linda Gray!

It is great acting acting by Linda Gray but I think this is not only acting. The tears are authentic, because they were friends in real life. Love Sue Ellen

"Will you have dinner with me?" The simplicity of that line and the meaning behind it is so powerful. He didn't ask her to marry him... He was being a gentleman and asking her for a date to start anew. This scene was the single most powerful scene in the Dallas reboot. It still brings me to tears even now at the age of 52. Larry Hagman entertained me all of my early life. JR Ewing was my favorite character of all time on television.
  • Beautiful, heart felt scene. Linda Gray is amazing. J.R did go off to Vietnam after university. I remember a scene, with Jock, where this was mentioned. If you go back to the original Dallas, and the scenes between Sue Ellen and J.R is some of the best acting, not only on TV but anywhere. The two were just an amazing force.

I attended the 40th reunion at Southfork Ranch March 30, 2018 and met the original cast. Wish Larry could have been there but I have a feeling he was. RIP JR.

LINDA LOVED LARRY AS MUCH AS SUE ELLEN LOVED J.R. AND WE ALL LOVED THEM BOTH.

I was an 80s kid and this brought back so many memories. I watched this when it aired and I cried then as I cried today. They just don't make 'em like this anymore!! A stellar cast, through and through!! ❤💔

Saw Linda and Patrick last evening March 23, 2017 at the Dallas Retrospective at Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas. They ran this clip and it was very moving watching it along with the actress herself. It again brought tears to the entire house. She said it was one of the most difficult scenes in her career. Brilliant performance and wonderfully talented actress.

I still can't believe it either! Linda Gray is brilliant in every episode of Dallas TNT. Her amazing, so moving, absolutely outstanding performance in the eulogy scene alone is Emmy worthy...she should have been nominated for an Emmy this year! She so deserved an Emmy (at the very least a nomination) for her incredible work on Dallas TNT! Linda will always be a winner in my heart! She is the BEST! <3
