This is the first of a series of videos to celebrate famous synths from the early 80s.

sit back and relax while you listen to some of my personal presets for the Oberheim OB8, one of the absolute kings of the synth world.
Reverb and Delay courtesy of Lexicon PCM-81.
one of its strong points is definitely luscious and amazing pads, for sonic tapestries that graced countless records
one of the kings of the 80s poly-synths forgotten era

this synth was used in some 80s productions such as
- Get Back (S. Nicks)
- Don't You (Simple Minds)
- The Walk (The Cure)
- Being Boring (Pet Shop Boys)
- The Boys of Summer... and many more!

  • The OB8 is really magical. I can sit for hours playing this and just listening to the ‘sound’ that comes out of the speakers. Soft synths can produce some amazing sounds but none close to emulating the character, tone, and beauty of this synth.
  • Omg! The very first sound is the sound and chord from New Order’s “regret”
  • 2:03, what did you do for this patch?? I’ve gotta know it sounds awesome!
  • 1:43 I can hear the voice panning which is moving across the stereo field. How is this done while you are holding down a chord and not striking each note again?
