This year's minecon earth is going to be the most hostile and uncomfortable to watch as they try to ignore these subjects ever.

Chat Reporting is one thing, the fact that you can potentially get banned for leaving the game too early is absolutely ridiculous since there's no real way of knowing if they left in purpose or if it was bad internet connections, not to mention how unnecessary it is since servers can ban you for combat logging and leaving mid-game and some servers like Hypixel even let you rejoin.

I can’t help but chuckle at the idea of saying in chat, “I’ve been banned for false information,” then getting banned for false information, followed by the reporting system deleting itself in a puff of logic.

These never crosses devs mind with the report system when people “leave the match early”. Power outages, has to leave early because parents says so, and internet randomly shits on itself for no apparent reason. But somehow this our fault and we get punished for it.
  • Something I find hilarious about the mojang message at 6:48 is that they say: 'we want to hear what you have to say' No. No you do not. Not even slightly actually. The entire Minecraft community is up in arms about this change and you not only don't listen, you actively push against the community, doubling down on it. Edit: don't listen to this guy called 'uwu' in the comments please they're hilariously misinformed
  • Mojang moderator: "If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please say it in the appropriate location." Also the Mojang moderator: "no."
  • @augustday9483
When Mojang says "we care about your feedback", they should be banned for misinformation according to their own standards. Because it's obvious that they don't care about our feedback.

I love how as soon as Mojang said they were going to add a reporting system I knew there would be some really easy exploits, I've had a crude plan on trying to ban the Minecraft dev team (or at least as many as possible) just to see what happens. Sounds like I can now also clog the reporting system with a few alt accounts and a plugin. Neat!

Can’t wait to get banned for a power cut I had no control over that will be fun and getting banned for not putting gg at the end of a game because it’s unsportsmanlike.
  • Mojang would definitely qualify as a nominee for the 'speedrunning losing all respect for you in your community' record

"We want to maintain a constructive and open dialogue." You have done something so awful that there is no way to express how bad it is without resorting to massive complaint campaigns. You're not listening. Start doing so. I think they believe that all this backlash is from a vocal minority or "people who just want to harass children," and nothing will change their mind.
  • @IgroSome
5:44 if they want chat reporting to be an "additional resource" they should just make it optional.
  • Ever since the report system launched i've been so scared to join public servers like hypixel, there is too many people who now have power to get rid of you permanently and it is just such a severe punishment, that its just not worth it to play on public servers anymore
  • @0OFG
Mojang: tell us in the appropriate location The entire community: tells that nobody likes the report system Mojang: Uhm yup. Unfortunately we do not care
  • The fact they fought against mods that disable reporting is all you need to know. Stick a fork in Minecraft, it's done. I uninstalled. I'm not coming back even if they ditch the entire idea, because all they're going to try to do later is sneak it in when no one's looking. Screw 'em.
  • @crazy
It’s sad to see where this game is going.

a friend of mine was denied a spot as a staff member on a featured bedrock edition server because of something bad written on a sign in a realm they were present in. apparently, mojang sent the featured server the chat logs and sign logs to look through as part of a background check. the crazy part is, my friend didn’t place those signs! someone else on the realm did. this is bedrock edition, and nothing like this would ever happen on java as there are no featured servers, but it’s still interesting that they have THAT level of access to private realms and are free to share that info.
  • "Quitting early" Well, I guess that's what pretty much all of the older players are going to be doing now. If they no longer care about the community, then its time for us to find alternatives. Honestly can't believe how utterly ridiculous this has become.
  • @aeroon9991
I hope that when Minecon comes around, the only question asked during the QnA is "Can you remove the chat report feature?" Just over and over again. Every member of the audience asks 1 by 1.
  • We have to accept there is NO good to this report system, specially in java where you have thousands of plugins / mods which allow moderation and even prevent people from sending "bad words" in chat.
