The issue of the 4-cylinders is not power. 4Runner's people do not care about power. They care if that engine can arrive to 300K miles without major interventions.

You know something was embargoed when Doug breaks his upload schedule
  • Thank you Doug for making this video. You posted it on the morning of my birthday. I love the 4runner!
  • I have a 2007 with 265k miles on it. No real issues, just the usual stuff you have to replace. Love it, I want to take it 400k

"I'm gonna take you on the most thorough tour yet of the new 4Runner" Doug posted this ONE MINUTE after it was unveiled. It's the ONLY tour of the new 4Runner
  • The black fender flares make it look like it has enormous empty wheel wells.
  • Great review! Every other next-gen 4Runner review I’ve watched has left me asking more questions, but you were really thorough! The only thing you didn’t mention in the second row was that you can recline them to give you a little extra headroom. Nice job.

As a Jeep Wrangler owner, I really love how much competition and options are entering the space. The Wrangler JL, Bronco, and now this 4Runner are really pushing the offroad DDs to the next level.
  • @ne6nk
Oh how I've missed outdoor reviews! I can see the car so much better and the sound doesn't suck!

2014 4Runner owner here. As of today, I have 326k miles on it and never had a single issue with it, other than the door lock actuators and the air blower. Changed the suspension and the ball bearings once after 250k, so it’s nice and lifted. Bulletproof doesn’t even start to describe this truck.

It gives me 4th gen vibes and The reason we like the 4runner is that it's been the same reliable simple tech for so long now hope this new platform doesn't disappoint

I've got a 2023 4 Runner and a new Sequoia. Love them both in their own ways. But something tells me the 4 Runner is going to be the one I still have at 300K miles. Just old school tech that simply works. Although, it's never found a gas station it didn't like. :)
  • @rump438
aint no damn way you'll be able to find these under 70k. The markup on these is gonna be nuts, 4runners already hold their value real well and I would imagine people are gonna be pretty excited by this redesign.
  • @kpy3p
Doug so wealthy he don’t even use a phone case 😫
  • Love your videos bro! You do a job I’d love to find! Was most interested in this for the price and 3rd row option. This and Tacoma keep some of the best resale values over time than most other brands and even other Toyota models. Money always well spent!
  • @Brotherhood676
The markups I'm sure will be crazy and you will still see these EVERYWHERE. Probably the most anticipated vehicle in 10 years..
  • @Nickorator
Doug - The power and performance of the drivetrain are NOT the issue with any of Toyota's new lineup. Its the lack of simplicity and question of reliability. Enthusiasts want to be able to fix their car on the side of the road, not be forced to go to a dealer. I get offering these i4/hybrid drivetrains, but not even having the option of a NA V6 (or V8 in the Tundra) is the difference between multiple people I know choosing American despite being big Toyota fans.
  • @arislopes1924
Loveed when he pointed out the curved rear glass on the trunk. This is heritage retro throwback to the 80s and early 90s 4Runners and it looks AMAZING, reminds me of safari trucks
  • @chris7941
Doug reminds me of a young Robert Deniro doing a bad Quentin Tarantino impression for some reason.
