Jiraiya has such a sad story. He was basically predestined with some tragic hero shit. He was basically fated to create a monster and to create a hero at different times in his life. Forced to confront the very evil he created from his youth. Jiraiya's ideals created evils. But Naruto's Ideals were the one's that ended up being true. Naruto's heart was in his belief's to save the world. Jiraiya spent his time believing he had it all figured out, only to find the truth didnt lie in what he was told, but what he felt. By the time Jiraiya had given up, Naruto had come along just in time to save him. He didnt even realize Naruto was the one when he was actually focused on his real book, when in the past he didn't have a shred of an idea what to write and was only doing it because "he has to in order to achieve the fate bestowed before him". That's why when Naruto proved himself to be "the one" he was ready to die to protect it. Because he KNEW it was Naruto. That is good story telling. Jiraiya was really the perfect teacher for Naruto. Kakashi was a better teacher to Sasuke. And Sakura's teacher was Tsunade. But i think out of all of them, Naruto's bond with Jiraiya had real guts to it. Yeah, Naruto is the main character sure, but it just goes to show how well written Jiraiya was. Jiraiya was an absolute badass. I only wish he had gotten with Tsunade before the end. Rip.
