The Durango Silverton Steam Train is known by many as the most scenic stream train in America. I've never been on a historic steam train ride and thanks to my good friend @DownieLive I was able to cross this off my bucket list. The Durango Silverton train is 141 years old and it is a 3 ft narrow-gauge heritage railroad that operates on 45.2 mi of track between Durango and Silverton, in the U.S. state of Colorado.

Have you rode this train before?

My favorite part was when you sang "She'll be comin' around the mountain". So glad you had a great time! You make me smile. Love to you, my friend. 🥰
  • I was born and raised in Durango, 5th generation. I wish I would have known you two were here. I would love to have shown you around! I worked for the train for a few years. It's a beautiful ride. If you two ever come back this way. I'll be your tour guide! 😉🚂

I rode this train as a child. Even though I was young, I remember being totally enamored with it. 100% in love!

you 2 together make everything so fun
  • Growing up in the big city I appreciate the locations of small-town America
  • I love the Durango Silverton route I have rode it the first time when I was fifteen a second when I was in my 30s and again in my late 50s. I plan to ride it again. Always in an outdoor car. In my 30s I recorded the entire ride on VHS which was converted to digital. I still watch it occasionally.
  • I'm from Durango. The train goes all the way to Silverton, and I think it's worth going all the way. But it is a very long day. I recommend doing the train one way and the bus back. It shortens the day a bit and also gives completely different views, each way. When in Silverton, go to The Coffee Bear, have a peanut butter bar, and think of me. When in Durango, come say hi to me at Carver Brewing Co (I serve lunch Friday and Sunday) or College Drive Cafe (I serve breakfast Thursday and Saturday). And hey, feel free to bring me a peanut butter bar from Silverton!

Will every moment on this trip was awesome. Great POV on the train as you hang off the side.
  • This is Great! Thank you, Will, for singing “She’ll be coming ‘round the corner when she comes!” When I watched Mike’s video, I imagined the old western cartoons with a villain and a woman strapped down on top of the train and cowboy 🤠 coming the rescue!!! 🚂

I've watched you for a while on Downie's channel and liked you so much, I decided to come watch YOUR channel. I should've known you were from Texas...such a genuine, nice smile and so down to earth. Being from Texas, I know not everyone is "down to earth"...we know the holier-than-thous types. lol However, when you find a good-hearted Texas, you've found a truly warm, kind, genuine person. Love that about you. <3 So glad I found your channel!

Wait so Will is into living simply in a dome and he loves trains, I’m hooked. Love me some trains and living naturally.
  • I feel like you: I never want nice train journeys to end! It’s always good to see your adventures, Plant Daddy!
