Great to see someone interested in diagnosing a problem before fixing it. Keep up the great attitude, Ray.
  • whats nice is that you have a consistent process and it teach us all about not only how it works and how to expect others to do the job correctly. thanks
  • The customer should be very pleased that the dash hasn't been pulled and his pre bought unit has been fitted and working okay for now. Well done Ray

After watching 30 seconds of the video, I'm reminded that a mechanic in Florida is basically a refrigeration mechanic who fixes cars too. As a Chef I've watched many cooling systems be serviced and repaired - You the man Ray. Your A/C machine is also super cool, they didn't have that.
  • Nice to see you treating the disease rather than the symptom, Ray. That's the difference between a great and a good technician.

Hi Ray, I wanted to thank you for your videos. I initially found you while looking for info on OBD because I was asked to translate error messages for OBD into French, but knew nothing about cars. You really helped me, and continue to do so with every new video. Now that I understand cars better, I can take on more "car-related jobs". My sincere thanks to you.
  • Rumors about Peta'.... Lauren said the new help didn't know if he wanted to be in the videos. I'm sure Ray will tell us when he is ready. Good call on due diligence and evaluating the entire system, that saved the customer about 12 labor hours plus the cost of a part they didn't need 👍

Happy pre 500K subscribers! I've been here since 60K Well deserved my friend!

As stated before the “schrader” valve is not the primary seal on a service port. You will never get them to 100% seal. The cap is the primary seal and needs good gaskets and tightened properly. Changing schrade isn’t going to stop the leakage. Making sure the caps fit tightly and seal will ensure the system is sealed properly. Many times when you remove the cap you will hear slight hiss as gas that leaked past Schrader valve but caught by the primary seal the cap.
  • Glad you take the time to check things out before jumping into what the customer thinks is needed . Also I think the designers ought to be made to work on the vehicles to see just how awkward it can be after the vehicle has been fully built. Sometimes it is almost impossible to work on these things .
  • I can only assume how much fun your new tech is having listening to your sayings 😂😂 " hey kid you wanna pull in the dooodge for me and apply clicks to the wheel knuts? Thank you good sir!"
  • @Psichlo1
Did years of hvac work on custom homes in my previous life and you're the first person I have ever seen that explains it how it actually works. It essentially removes heat not so much cooling the air. Always great videos Ray, keep it up.

I realize this video is over a yr old, but i wanted to comment on a great diagnosis and repair. Not that i was wishing you more work but I was really hoping the owner still wanted the evaporator swapped because your attention to detain is fantastic, and i wanted to see your procedure for removing the dash and the hvac unit😊. Im in the planning process of replacing blend doors on my '07 Ram 2500 cummins and was looking to watch a professional before i tackle the job😅. Oh, well... Anyway, thank you for posting the videos. Im sure that you have helped many people in their car problems. Mike, new subscriber

Ray, don't you just love the way Ram trucks make you reach back into a tunnel to get to important failure prone parts. My '97 Cummins Ram requires valve adjustments every 25K miles. The last 2 cylinders are in the firewall tunnel. Anti-kudos to the new breed of engineers.
  • It's amazing to me your wide range of knowledge of different rigs and the problems they present to you. Thank you Ray for your sharing with us!!!
  • @MrMattDat
that sounds like a Sid & Krofft 70's dance, " Push down. Push up. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle"...
  • I always shoot a little bit of WD-40 onto those quick connect springs, it makes the whole mechanism function a lot easier. At least to get them to release
