there are no bad weather just bad clothes as we say in Norway, gute warme Kleidung rettet die Reise, 😊 all the best, greetings from Norway.

I don't know if you have been to Europa Park. But if you haven't been there, like fall and rollercoasters then you definitely need to go there. It's also not too far away from Stuttgart. In fall season they have a lot of pumpkins laying around and some of the attractions are decorated different as well. ✌️

The price on the clocks isn't all that surprising... I used to know an Amish guy in Ohio who had a little shop where he sold cuckoo clocks like those, and his prices were very similar - and that was a good 15/20 years ago! I also used to sell some vintage cuckoo clocks (again, in the US) around the same time period for hundreds of dollars. Those things are extremely intricately made so the price justifies the work put into making one. That said, I had one running once for a few weeks to make sure it was working after being repaired, and my cat kept trying to climb up the wall and eat the little bird when it popped out.

3:52 There once was a "SteinBreakingFest" in the USA. The Bierkrüge from the German-Americans was gathered and destroyed. It would be nice bringing them back to the USA 🙂
  • Were those the Allerheiligen waterfalls? You have to go take a look at the Triberg waterfalls on a day when the weather isn't that awfull! They are only a little bit further down the road south than the big Cuckoo clocks, and are Germany's highest waterfalls, and also some of the most awesome.

That stuff is only for tourists. Contrary to the stereotypes hardly anyone has a cuckoo clock at home German Whiskey is pretty new for the most part. It has become a bit of a trend recently for distilleries to get into it. A few have been at it for longer, but most only about 15-20 years maximum

5:54 The exhibit shows the making of a cuckoo clock. From sawing the raw wood, building the clock to the traveling salesman who brought the clocks to the world. He is not a hiker having fun with all the clocks in his Rucksack. He roamed all of Europe to sell the product. Just like the Amazon of its day. BTW, the Schwarzwald and its forest products is an interesting topic. The tree were cut down in winter using something similar of a toboggan run to bring the logs down to the rivers. https://youtu.be/vIbMcdHC2M4 Then the logs were tied into gigantic rafts. With little huts on them for the crew (up to hundreds of men), articulations to make the thing steerable on the Rhine and even little boats to get to the banks in order to tie it down over night. Those "commercial rafts" went all the way down to Amsterdam were the logs were used to build ships or use them as pilings to build houses on.

Kinzigtal in itself is such a little paradise :) Glad you love it down here :) Greetings from Haslach :)

Loved that video. You obviously had a great time and didn't let the weather spoil it for you! You seemed to love that pumpkin stand a lot. So, if you liked that, you should visit the Ludwigsburg pumpkin exhibition at Blühendes Barock (Baroque in Bloom). It's an event that takes place yearly and from about beginning of September to about end of November. I've been a few times (and absolutely loved it), but always in early September, so I have no first-hand-knowledge of how it would be in the later season. It has all sorts of pumpkin-themed stuff - including food, competitions, drinks, etc... Even without the pumpkin festival, the Blühendes Barock is a stunning place to see and experience - a must-see in Baden-Württemberg (imho) I hope you'll decide to go (bring your camera - believe me, it's worth a video all on its own), and if you do, let me know! Enjoy!

Hi Trey, I think I told you. I grew up not to far from Hornberg and drove by those Kuckuck Uhren houses hundreds of times. I had to laugh when you showed the Schnaps as again, I have a story for you there;-) So, the farm I grew up in the Black Forest also distilled Schnaps and other hard liquor. My father was sitting in the distillery room all day during the time of the year to create these insane drinks and when you are like 12-13 years old and you walk in there in the winter, a room full of Schnaps vape in the air, you get drunk in no time. So you walk in and bring him something to eat and talk a minute and 10 minutes later you walk out not knowing where left and right is any more. Luckily it was freezing cold outside so I got "sober" again in no time.

If you like waterfalls you maybe want to see the Uracher Wasserfall, it`s not far from Stuttgart. In Bad Urach also the Brezel was invented.

Sommerrodelbahn beste! I have to visit one again 😊 didn't do that for at least 15 years 🙄 you know, it's called Sommerrodelbahn, because Rodeln originally means the process of sliding down a hill with a sleigh.
  • Look for Black Forest Family, I think they have a video about the biggest pumpkin festival in Europe!
  • @lrighttobewhite
The Sommerrodelbahn rules (In typical German fashion)....'die Benutzung von Kameras ist während der gesamten Fahrt verboten!' Well, I guess you violated the rules here.....BWUAHHAHAHA 😂😅😂👍🏻

Thank you for this video. Although the cuckoo clocks are handcraft they are a more touristy thing. If you like it by one - modern Germans will shake their heads, but who takes care for this? I saw you like the waterfalls - my recommendation for Stuttgart surrounding would be go to Urach or invest two hours and go to Schaffhausen (Switzerland) to see the Rheinfall a spectacular one with really a huge amount of water coming down.
