Leave it to govt to make something simple overtly complicated

The City of Austin was accepting payoffs from developers to avoid building low income housing.

Paid just enough to have hope and to live. Not enough to go out for a cheese burger every month or to pay for Netflix but enough money to not die.
  • What happend to project connect. ?? The reason more nonprofits are moving in is due to the way the funds are being allocated?? Who's monitoring the allocation and who's actually profiting from families bieng displaced..
  • I find it very odd that they’re not allowed to build more HUD based housing. Like, how bad a landlord/management company do you have to be to not be allowed to build with HUD backing? Or is this just Texas trying to be on their own at the expense of residents? Qualifications are different if it’s housing authority, HUD section 8/sections 202 which is low income seniors only, tax credit units. Tax credit being the most expensive and hardest income requirements.

I have been living in affordable housing since I moved here here from Arizona, I am now living in charmers East, last year my rent went up $250, I just got a note on my door to let me know that my rent is going up$170, calculation for annual year I will be paying $20,000 a year in rent , and I’m making about 30 a year. I haven’t even added my electric bill my food bill I pay more rent then I can afford to even eat my next birthday November I will be 65 and I’m working all the time but still not making it. What do I do in these cases?

There should be rules and regulations. If you don’t meet the screening criteria what do you want the property owner to do? The problem I’m seeing is people don’t want to face the consequences of their choices. They want property owners to eat their mistakes and take chances on their hard earned investments and take losses by charging less rent. Is that fair to property owners?

Love this guy! The regulations should be massively thinned out. If you are looking at these places you are poor, that should be enough

It's because Texas GOP cares more about the house building businesses and land owners who already got paid
