Storm Trackers rode out the violent winds of the eyewall of Category 4 (nearly Category 5) Hurricane Laura as she made landfall in Louisiana Thursday morning. Intense eyewall winds were watched from a safe location as the front side eyewall broke glass off the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, as well as the intensity of the winds creating power outages, as well as uprooting trees and tossing them down roads like ragdolls. After the calm of the eye had passed the backside of the hurricane came in much stronger resulting in the roof ripping off the hotel into many pieces and being thrown across the street, and into the parking garages.

Whoever anchored that spot light did a good job
  • Can confidently say that’s the first time I’ve seen a tree, not just up rooted, but being blown down the street as a whole unit.

Outside wearing a mask in a category 4 hurricane. Now I've seen it all.

I gotta say... that is a damn good little street lamp in the shots up to 1:43.

I live in McComb Mississippi and we were very blessed, even when a 🌪️ tornado touched down, I pray for all and everyone
  • Now I have to go back to Lake Charles to check out my aunt's and my grandmother's houses, hopefully everything is ok. Wish me luck.

Only massive buildings made with reinforced concrete can survive this.

Why in the hell he would go out there like that!! he got a death wish.. smh
  • This is amazing video-and I was so relieved when those 2 men decided against their nightly stroll. I was dreading the guy holding the handrail, going out into the full force of the wind and POOF!!! He would’ve been miles away-perhaps landing in Oz!”? And may I say I am AMAZED that the lights are still working!

Great footage. I haven't seen footage of winds that strong since Andrew. Maybe Michael. Thanks for sharing! Some of these comments though...idk🤦
  • You could here the lady from The Weather Channel yelling at those guys to get back lol. That was a nasty landfall, I hope everyone is okay.

That’s some wind. Good idea using a light to see it
