thank you to the one and only gianni matragrano as blade wolf. if you had told me that i would be typing that sentence out a year ago, i wouldn't have believed you. one of the most talented people ive gotten to know, but his talent doesn't even hold a candle to his kindness. if i was a drinking woman, i'd have toasted to him by now happy april 30th, everyone. i felt as though the only way i could show respect to this title was by breaking my jokey rule. if you havent, i highly reccomend playing metal gear solid 2. or just watch a playthrough. the game saved my life. the last cutscenes still rattle in my brain almost a decade after witnessing it for the first time. cannot reccomend it enough. have a good one, everybody
  • This, but unironically. Raiden and Sam were the only friends Wolf had

The man who sparked the idea of freedom in blade wolf has been struck down by the man who gave Blade wolf his freedom. No amount of pain inhibitors can suppress the grief and sorrow. And despite Raiden claiming he wasn't the right guy to confort wolf, he did his best. 10/10, an emotional scene done right

Raiden: Giving a deep speech to Wolf. Also Raiden: boo womp
  • @SMAB2007
This isn't a shit post, it's a heartfelt message. It's just Raiden explaining a very human thing to Bladewolf because of Sam's defeat. This really is amazing and honestly brought a tear to my eye. It even managed to keep some comedic elements like the boo-womp. Thank you, I have high hopes for your upcoming projects, Wes!

This really was un ironically amazing. If this is the kind of quality I can expect from the upcoming abridged for MGR that you’re doing than I have high hopes.

Who knew that killing your dad then dying of old age was such a tearjerker
  • @chiefr9627
Perfectly captures the contrast between MGS2 and MGR Raiden. Raiden in MGS2 wasn't his own person. He was a child who had his life ripped from him and was used as a weapon. Snake on the other hand was a seasoned veteran who volunteered to protect the world. Raiden had the responsibilities of saving the world thrust onto him. His identity was stripped from him, and the mission he was given was bogus, but the stakes were very real. I think it's comparable to that quote "Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die." In MGS4 Raiden went about looking for purpose and trying to deny his past heartache and turmoil. Where in Rising he accepted it, realizing that mankind will do anything to preserve the ideas. So why not fight for what he believed in?
  • @Magic_Ice
I love this video. It feels like such a natural progression of Raiden since his MGS2 days.
  • @MrMisfortune
I was expecting some big punchline at the end, but no, it's just heartfelt, and I like that a lot.
  • @Kirbo710
Rip Sam, his death will not be forgotten
  • @xion0713
Its honestly really good characterization of Raiden here he's joking around for parts of it but you can clearly tell in the crack in his voice that its not out of a place of disrespect or a lack of empathy but because this is a moment that really hit close to him he used the humor to try to pass off some of the discomfort he was feeling at having such a vulnerable moment but he still understood the weight of those words as he passed them to Blade Wolf
  • @s1lkwyrm205
Yknow, when monsoon had that rant about memes, this was exactly what he was talking about. It just got lost in translation due to the fact that “memes” have different connotations with different people. The parallels between this scene and the rest of the canon are really sweet! A more positive interpretation of the passing on of ideas. Keep on doing what you’re doing Wes <3
  • @SwerveStarEx
Honestly, I feel like I really needed to hear that. Thanks. But also, this was really good. I love how you managed to keep these guys consistent with your interpretations of the characters and even keep their flavor of humor WITHOUT compromising the heartwarming message.
  • @SchizoGuitarist
I was so fucking in touch with the motivational speeches that Raiden gave I almost went into tears, and then the singular faint 'boo-womp' just made fucking lost it. This is amazing
  • @sunnyd1722
There’s so much EMOTION!! Your MGR Abridged is going to be wonderful, you’re so talented. I am waiting with bated breath
  • @tumate45
Between all them "there will be bloodshed" posts, this is quite refreshing and would be a good ending to the meme. Expected some really stupid interruption at some point, but this was so wholesome, thanks. And hell, nowadays it's getting harder and harder to recognise Gianni, he's really stepping up his game.
  • For what is typically a meme channel, this was... Heavy, raiden's speech there, well... Snake's really, damn that hits hard
  • @Bionic_B
Genuinely surprised MGRR didn't have a moment like this. Like that would of been such a good moment, and fit into Wolfs story of being alive. Well done!!
