  • I can’t imagine how traumatizing that was for her. Being a 3 year old child put to sleep only to wake up to learn you no longer have the person you were literally attached to for 3 years of your life. It breaks my heart.

Katie was not a second head, she was a person. She had a name and a personality. I hate that people refer to her as if she was just a parasite. I have much respect for her parents. It had to have been the hardest decision they have ever made. RIP Katie ❤️
  • Eilish is stunningly beautiful inside and out, and the loss of Katie is tragic. The parents are heroic in their courage and love for their children. A deeply moving and complex story.

They seem very adjusted, they're open about the grief and loss of Katie while embracing the joy for Eilish without guilt. Guilt, denial and shame is what turns grief and tragedy into longterm trauma. They accepted the truth that both grief and joy can occupy the same space without regret.

The only thing I don't like about this is the title. Maybe change it to read "Two children, one body". Katie was more than just a head. Otherwise, very touching story.

Bless her heart, I truly feel for her. I am 60 yrs. old and lost my twin when we were 16, I still mourn and cry for her.
  • I think the fact that Eilish has 2 older siblings is an enormous blessing for her. With other kids to nurture, teach, support, etc, the parents were never able to overwhelm or spoil her with all of their attention. In addition, kids learn so much, which helps them to relate to their siblings in an appropriate way. She is able to discover the consequences of doing & saying things in front of other kids, she will experience feelings of empathy, sincerity, support, strength, etc, before experiencing new things in front of peers.

I can't even imagine if every child was loved with half the love these parents give their kids. The world would be a much better place.

She holds back a lot of emotion. You can tell by her eyes how much she misses her sister. Such a brave soul. I hope she is happy and healthy today.

Eilish's face when she saw Abby and Brittany was sad. You could see that flicker of understanding of loss there. Heartbreaking but I am so happy that Eilish survived and is thriving. I'd like see what she is like today.

I can’t imagine going through what these parents had to go through and they handled it with dignity and grace. Katie and Eilish couldn’t have had better parents. Losing Katie must have broke their hearts and they bore it and went on. Katie’s weak heart could have taken both of these children from them. Wherever this family is now I hope they are doing well and I wish them well. Bless them.
  • Her eyes are so sad! The pain she must feel going to see others who still have their twin with them must be awful! I’m a twin myself and my sister was stillborn. Katie will never be forgotten and will always be missed.

It really struck me how emotional the doctor got while talking about her speaking to him for the first time. That clearly meant a lot to him. I think he's got a lot of maybes about Katie floating around in his head too.

It would be heart breaking to lose a child. The mother is obviously still grieving and looking for the positive so she can survive. What courageous parents.

Every time that child looks at her mum or cuddles with her mum, the child's face lights up. Such a wonderful relationship. These parents are amazing.
  • I am an identical twin who lost my twin. It never gets easy. She was a part of me and I think of her often. She is missed forever but I know I will see her again.💗🕊🙏

I think we have to respect that there are decisions in life, especially medically, that are neither "right" or "wrong." They are simply decisions, very difficult decisions. Whether it is the Holton's choosing separation or the Hensel's not, neither is right or wrong or more right or more wrong. I respect both families very much.

This little girl sure does love her momma. Every time she looked at her momma and came close to her momma, she got the biggest smile. The love just radiates. ❤️ How precious! 😊

I lost my twin to suicide 30yrs ago. When he died a part of me died but I'm so grateful that I had him for 20yrs. I've never got 'over it' but I've learnt to live without him. I didn't have the parents Eilish & Katie have, my parents concentrated on their loss and guilt never on their other 3 children. Last year my mother told me the wrong twin died, I always suspected she felt like that. These parents are remarkable at all times they put their beautiful children 1st. I would love to see a current documentary 💚💚💚💚
