Triple Olympian Lisa Curry was the golden girl of swimming through the 1980s after she was spotted by Dawn Fraser’s coach at age 10.

With her fairytale marriage to ironman Grant Kenny and the arrival of three golden-haired children, Lisa has been a magazine favourite for decades.

Lisa has led a full and rich life – reinventing herself as a champion outrigger coach, chair of the Australia Day Council and fitness entrepreneur.

But behind the scenes, for 18 years, Lisa was battling a crisis that threatened the life of her eldest child.

As Lisa approaches 60, she reflects on the joy of family, heart-wrenching loss and the power of new beginnings.

I’ve never given Lisa the credit she so clearly deserves. Super athlete. Super mum and undeniably a super human. Many can learn from her drive and her will to self improve and learn. I know I have just watching this ❤
  • I feel so blessed to have clicked on this story and learned about the life of Lisa Curry and her life and her family. What an inspiring woman!! I wasn't aware of this talented athlete from Australia, but I can see why she captured the affection and attention of her nation and those in her field...so sorry for the loss of her precious daughter, and warmest wishes for the family's future. ❤
  • Lisa is so down to earth, that is what makes her awesome.Much love to her ❤
  • What a lovely lady. She suffered a pain no parent should ever have to bear, the death of her daughter. I wish her the very best life can offer
  • Lisa, don’t stop being you. Please continue to live your life the way you want to…… Australia loves you and supports you…
  • It’s so sad that Lisa lost her daughter to this disease. I’m a survivor of an eating disorder so this story really hit my heart. Such a wonderful warm lady. My heart breaks for her.

This was one of the best stories, unfortunately the media contaminated the profile of Grant and Lisa. We are not sick of this true story. I don’t know what it’s like to loose someone. Lisa your are and always are very beautiful person. You and Grant made beautiful children and no media can take this away no matter how hard they try
  • Such respect ... as a daughter and mum , my heart hurts for you beautiful ❤️
  • @Sitaslife
I just seen this story and my heart goes out to you sis cause your story is so related to me how I lost my only daughter back in 2019 and she just turning 27 years of age and is so hard still now to cope with it but as days goes by reading the word of God and praying and the peace of God helps me to heal and move forward but she will still be missed each day and remembered cause she's our only daughter but I thank God because we still have our two loving sons and our family. I hope that peace of God will heal your broken heart and soul. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
  • love to Lisa, I cant imagine a pain greater than losing a child :thanksdoc:
  • My heart totally broke for Lisa and her family, I had tears rolling down my face, no mother thinks their child will go before them, let alone in such a tragic and long suffering way. Lisa has always been such an awesome and inspirational woman and I reakon she will be till the day she joins her beloved daughter. Lisa Curry Kenny you totally rock. You are an amazing woman and from what I see an amazing mum and grandmother, I wish you all the very best for the future.
  • Lisa you have through this documentary given me strength to face my son with his addiction. Like you we’ve faced utter pain and turmoil, never give up, but in the end we just can’t change the way our child thinks…we suffer tremendously but they need to cross the line too. I feel as parents we could do a motivational tour titled, “love you forever, before you go”. A support group for parents and raise money to have affordable rehabilitation for those suffering with various forms of addiction. Let’s do it, I’m with you if you’re not tired and enjoying a wonderful life ❤️❤️
  • Thank you for this beautiful story, hang in there mom! Your baby is with angels teaching them how to swim 😇...much respect and warm regards from Mom in México 💕
  • love Lisa's comments some are so funny. Met her once just before she announced her upcomming wedding. She was sweet and down to earth. We got on so well. The games helped put Brisbane on the map.
  • I was a great grandmother at 63 it’s the best thing ever I’m 73 now I have 6 great grand children and I’m so blessed to be fit healthy to run after and play with our babies, so I understand you Lisa it’s the best thing in the world
  • I remember meeting Lisa, Jamie Lee and Morgan after a motivational conference at the Melbourne Entertainment center. Such a loving person who pushes themselves to the limit and beyond. The tendency to be too hard on ourselves is a real burden, to realize that the unconditional love we feel for others is inherent in them also, helps. Yesterday is a memory Today is the present Tomorrow is a gift.
  • Dearest Lisa, I accidentally came across your book at a library just this week. I’m not a reader, but I scrolled through the first few pages and couldn’t put it down. Two days later, I’ve read your book with tears streaming down my face. I felt such heart ache for you, and also related it to my own daughter who just 14 and going through an eating disorder. Your book felt very real to me and it’s scared me at the same time. It’s a wake up call and I thank you for sharing your personal story. It’s been perfect timing and I don’t believe it was an accident that I came across your book. So truly, I thank you.
  • What a great exemplar of a woman and a terrific human being Thanks for the inspiration, and keep coaching. We need you!
  • I know what it's like to have a child going through something and being completely powerless to fix it. So many times I cry, get angry retreat with in myself and feel like a failure but we do soldier on and keep going. To Lisa I say " Even strong people have weak moments" and that's ok.
  • Lisa, I am so happy that I got to know you a little bit this summer. I feel your pain in your story and thank you for sharing. God bless you and all those struggling.
