RBR is a master piece which unfortunately still remains at the top 20 years later...

Dirt Rally it is a racing game, i.e, DR have game design, a carrer, a path to progress, some dinamics that invite people to play and stay playing the game. For me it is one of the best racing games ever created. I see no problem if it is not the most realistic, because for me it is the best game overall.

the both are great tbh, rbr is for hardcore sim, but it doesn't mean dr2 is fully arcade, beginner friendly rally sim and also those both are great in wheels

So everybody thinks dirt 2.0 is too easy? Are peope using traction control or stability control?
  • @ianfan1420
Oh no, not the RBR fanboys getting butthurt. DR 2.0 is and always will be a good rally simulator. What's the point of having god tier physics when you can't even immerse yourself in the game because it looks like garbage and sounds like farting into a tin can? I'm not saying RBR is a bad simulator or that it's worse than DR2 but just because it has a slight lead in physics doesn't mean that every other rally game is arcade garbage for 9 year olds.

Both games are extremely beautiful, awesome and escapistically immersive. It's difficult to choose which game is better.

WRC Generations (and other Kiloton games) are unfairly overlooked imo. After a few weeks of EA WRC I found myself going back DR2.0 more and more. Then I got WRC Generations around new years and it's the only rally game I've played since then. Online leagues are fun, but stage design and driving physics are just so good. I actually enjoy tarmac stages and the gravel drifting is so controlled with left foot braking.

Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo mentioned! I love that game!

For bringing in new players into Rally DR is great and at some point if they’ve got a PC and are serious about realism they’ll migrate to RBR and in most cases never look back. That was my route into RBR and the forums are full on of drivers who say they’ve played DR for years but have now tried RBR and are hooked but RBR definitely isn’t for everyone, there’s a steep learning curve but the rewards when you get it right are exponential.

nothing compares in real driving physics to RBR. DR2 is just too easy. braking before corners are way too fast. cars have no weight.
  • @Sizifus
I don't think I agree with the statement that if Dirt Rally 2 was as realistic as RBR it wouldn't be a financially viable product. DCS World, Asseto Corsa and the popularity of RBR itself proves that the market is ripe for a true AAA rally simulator experience. The big studios are just too conservative to go all in with it and too scared to put hardcore enthusiasts as the main demographic of the product.

This video made me understand whg I can perform ok on rbr and mid to bad in dr2. The cars steer from the center and (having driven on rally irl) it throws me off when trying to make good times
  • @Wedge4Life
The King is BeamNG ..... Its the only thing that even compares to RBR, also some of the best driving roads in any game..
  • I still consider Dirt 2.0 to be simcade at best, Respectfully. Even a completely overlooked older game like SLRE has much better physics. Don't get so caught up in graphics. Good wheel support and physics are what create a good driving experience.
  • @balamacab
Dirt really 2.0 is fun till you commit all stages to mind… and that takes a month or so intense driving. I would pay to have the long stages of ea etc in dr2. Rbr is fun because there are so variety that each stage is new because is difficult time all to mind
  • @mrtravnikar
RBR has great sound if youre outside the car
  • The graphics and sound etc is dated in Burns , but the stages and the physics more than make up for the shortcomings. Playing Burns in VR even with a rubbish cockpit is awesome. And its free.
  • @kevedwards
When you master RBR DR is almost unplayable IMO, I’ve tried many time to go back to it and I’ve tried EAWRC but the driving is just hollow. I don’t have much time lately.
