Now a respected and influential watchdog group is adding 14 types of fish, including the iconic New England lobster, to its list of seafood consumers should avoid because it claims catching those fish can be deadly to the whales. Ben Tracy reports.

As a kid, I was told to avoid mobsters in Chicago. Now, as an old geezer, I'm told to avoid lobsters from Maine. A full circle kinda life, I suppose.

Don’t really eat lobster, if not ever because it’s too expensive.
  • We shouldn't be eating bottom feeders or animals that lay in there own muck. Just saying.
  • Lobster!? Sorry but as a proud gay fish I'm to busy putting fish sticks in my mouth to care about sea cockroaches...

As humans, we need to give up some things for the greater good of the planet. We need to not feel entitled to whatever spoils of the earth.

They should work together to find a solution. It shouldn’t be hard - just talk to one another. We can save both!

The oceans are being raped so bad. Within the next 100 years, we will look back upon the good old days when it had a lot more life.

“Ropeless traps” are the way of the future. Hopefully it’ll fix the problem.

Hard to feel bad for this industry. Im sure they could find better ways to trap. Sure it will cost more but a safe planet for all is more important. Those whales are a big part of sea life. We need them more than people need to eat lobster.

the last killed whale in cape cod was by a research vessel not lobster gear. Whales are killed or struck by vessels more than they are entangled in gear.

Check out Leon the Lobster, the owner got him from a tank at a grocery store and now he lives a good life and they are in the process of writing a book about it.

Eating lobster is not that damn important!
  • Yes, don’t eat lobster, snow crabs, or fish. Gotta leave those for the ultra rich people at David.
