The Spider-Man ride continues to be the standard and is unchallenged to this day
  • @RednekGamurz
The problem with 3D and screen-based rides in general is that I think you need some amount of physical props and effects to sell it. The reason Spider-Man still holds up is because of this.
  • @karasumer
7:21 Ratatouille and Web Slingers both opened up with 3D in 2021, so your point about them being late stands even more
  • @thegovialjiraffe
As with many things, it works only in moderation. Universal Studios is oversaturated with 3D attractions, whereas Disney only has one, maybe two per park. It doesn't feel exhausted at Disney because you have plenty of other options and ride systems in their rides. And they seem to only commit to those effects when they know it's the best way to present it's respective attraction. Like Flight of Passage, or Star Tours, or Mickey's Philharmagic. They don't just slap it on EVERYTHING, and they have so many unique ways of using projection mapping and hologram-like effects that there are so many workarounds anyway.

Finally. Universal can now make more rides with physical sets. I mean hagrids is a masterpiece so how hard can it be
  • @lbskysword9545
Muppet Vision 3D is an attraction that still holds Jim Hensons legacy, and removing that ride would be sad

I actually enjoy the 3d rides. Although I still enjoy Minion Mayhem as is, I'd say it was a better experience with 3d, same with Skull Island.
  • Over reliance on 3D should absolutely go, but when done right with intention and purpose, it should be used. Flight of passage and Spider man should not get rid of it
  • @DavidLopez-nr7wp
In regards to a screen based 3D experience, I think flight of passage is truly the best implementation I’ve ever experienced. I’ve ridden it many times recently and the 3D really does add to the experience like you’re truly on pandora

There are still plenty of fans for 3D attractions. It really just depends on the ride itself and how it was created. For example, you said yourself the people still love the Amazing Spider-Man. No one is calling for that ride to lose its 3D and I wonder why... it's because people love it. So what's the takeaway... If a ride is executed exceptionally well that's all that matters.

All the 3D rides are the main reason I didn't visit Universal during my Orlando trip a few years ago. My mom gets motion sick very easily and when doing a mother-daughter trip, I'm not going to a park where my mom has to skip half of the rides. Luckily they realized that and their new rides, and especially Epic Universe, look like it's gonna be awesome.

A complaint I have with the big boys (Disney & Universal), is that they lack medium thrill in rides. It’s either kiddy rides or extreme thrill levels in rides. For someone like me that does get sick from screen rides, gets bored on kiddy rides, doesn’t enjoy feeling my stomach in my throat for too long and often, there really isn’t much for me to do at either parks. I like a good balance of thrill and chill. But, seems like many parks focus too much on either zero thrill rides, or rides for adrenaline junkies. They need to put more rides in that sit at a decent median. I feel having too many zero thrills and high thrill rides also cuts out a big demographic from wanting to visit their theme parks.

Even if 3D is seen as a worn out fad, that’s not an excuse to make 2D screen rides, that’s worse IMO. Give us physical pieces and animatronics.
  • @Garrickhrivnak
I enjoy the 3D rides. Like Spider-Man though they must be a moving cart or something involved as well in order to succeed.
  • @wooperman6960
3D and Physical Sets are both great when done right, but imo its far better when both are prominent in parks. Maybe a land should have like 4 rides - 13D ride, 1 Coaster or another intense ride, 1 Family Ride, and a Kid Ride
  • @brytonup1551
Mickeys Philharmonic is the BEST 3D I’ve seen. Been going since I was 4 and it still blows my mind
  • @isabelmarie2003
The new Jurassic world ride bein all screens in the beginning kills me. I do love Skull island and spider man and even loved Shrek
  • @WatchDoggyDog
It's a shame they took the 3D out of Kong, and any other ride. 3D is awesome. I wanna ride the forbidden journey in 3D. Most people enjoy 3D, especially when the ride is more of a hybrid. Avatar the way of water was awesome in 3D, and plenty of people bought that 3D ticket. They should give special 2D glasses to people who are lactose intolerant to 3D or whatever, lol. they do make those and they are simple and work well. I'm excited to try out some AR and VR too, but for most normal people, 3D will always be a cool and welcome feature that adds to the experience. If they could figure out glasses free 3D a la the 3DS, that'd be a game changer. Also, bring on the HOLOGRAMS!! 😯
  • @charlithewolf
I like 3d on rides but that being said i think it was overused on rides that didnt need it. When done right it can be an amazing experience.
