Vung Tau was an area that Australians were stationed during the Vietnam war
  • hey mate thanks for the video, super useful and direct info, I appreciate the simple format approach vs theatrical etc. Been to Vietnam twice and never heard of Hon Son!!! will check it out next time... and of course, always staying "frosty"!!

The Australian task force was responsible for defending the road from the port at Vung Tao to Saigon during the Vietnam war. The Battle of Long Tan is particularly famous. These days, Long Tan is a sacred site similar to Gallipoli, Kokoda and Hellfire Pass on the Burma railroad and many Australians will visit there.

I currently live in Ontario, Canada and I can support my family of three with $2600 per month, including rent. In Vietnam, I could comfortably survive on less than $600 per month as a single individual, since living a frugal lifestyle is how I've been living for the past 12 years.
  • My hotel while in saigon for the last 5 years is now $20 a night!!. Cracking hotel down an alley in De Tham. Yellow house hotel, check trip advisor. I fly next friday

Do you have any advice for beginner traveler on how to have access to their money? Should I bring cash, travel credit card, or what is the best way to avoid additional fees to withdraw/ exchange US dollar to VN dong?
  • @qn5947
You can save money by finding lodging near a major market where you can just step out the door and find any fast food or groceries you desire. It saves the cost of many Grab or taxi rides.
  • @fongluu
maybe you can make a video about getting cash and/or using debit vs credit cards vs travel checks...etc. Great vids as always!

Could you do a video on the clubs and prices of VIP etc I hear the VIP at the clubs are like $300 USD is it true. Guess depending on the club. Otherwise Vietnam seems really affordable
