These are the REAL STREETS of Selma Alabama. Driving thru the HOODS checking out Urban Decay. This little city remind me of a Detroit but in the South. Its buildings are sadly in bad shape. These were once great areas but today the town needs investment and people who CARE and RESPECT the community for there to be improvements. I think this city DESERVES better.

  • I think the town REALLY deserves better and it DOES attract tourist. I always see people out and about. And there is a SMALL elite group of people in ties and professional dress always downtown. The town has potential, and deserves better. I will upload another video showing the towns NICE older homes the town has quite a few. LOTS of potential here. STILL WAYYYY better than BELLE GLADE or PAHOKEE in Florida... AT LEAST its got some stores and SOME shopping. I did see hiring signs.. so.. there ARE options. and you CAN commute into Montgomery or PRATTVILLE.. so the "there are no options" people are full of crap. I was very upset to see ONE PERSON cleaning while two houses down someone driving by littered. You got GOOD people TRYING and they gotta deal with a WHOLE BUNCH of crap from those who isn't.

Damn. Seems like there its people have been forgotten, the abandoned, dilapidated old homes. Truly sad. Even the roads are not maintained. Thanks for showing us the other side, through your lens.

I lived there 45 years ago in a United Methodist Children's Home, rite on Broad Street there is a big white building is in front of it looks like the white house , it's was beautiful there when I was a kid ...but I think a College bought it after the orphanage closed it was almost 150 years old ...it's still there just abandoned now😢😢 I attended Edgewood Elementary School then , Westside Junior highschool...on to Selma Highschool, like I said it was a lively beautiful city at that time this is so sad to see 😢😢

The problems with Selma are huge. Many have bought the beautiful old homes and tried desperately to repair them....they finally give up and leave them abandoned and empty. It takes a LOT of money. There is much crime in the town. Many disadvantaged citizens feel 'used' by the Civil Rights Movement. 'They promised us and did not deliver. They came and had their marches and left.'' They continue to live in poverty. To be fair, many often want their problems to be solved by others and do not understand that they must be a part of the progress. There is broken-ness and litter everywhere, burned out homes, trash and mattresses left beside the streets in residential areas, crime. Selma was at one time such a beautiful and refined town. Many have just given up and left for brighter futures. I am so hopeful that one day things will be different.
  • It's actually a really nice peaceful neighborhood just the houses are run down for the most part . Take some money in your hand and fix it.

The potential here is enormous!! And people are slowly realizing it. There is a lot more to Selma than what is being shown.
  • THIS CITY IS HISTORICAL! SO SAD IT HAS BEEN ABANDONED. THERE SHOULD BE FEDERAL SUPPORT IN REVIVING THIS CITY. SELMA ALABAMA IS KNOWN AROUND THE GLOBE 🌎. THE POLITICAL LEADERS OF ALABAMA SHOULD SOLICIT HELP FOR THIS GREAT CITY.
  • It's really quiet out there I lived there 11years and almost 12years now

  • @jamie615
could be so beautiful I hope we can all work to redevelop places like this in america bc it could easily look immaculate.
  • It’s so sad how my people are treated may God have mercy on our oppressors!

Where is the 88BR homes out side Craig Air Force Base I was there in 1969 until 1974 you never show these houses I would love to see these home
  • @melloaf92
Looks eerily similar to Selma NC in a way
  • A lot of areas up north look exactly like this and it’s depressing... I hate the isolation. Something about having people around is comforting to me...I love walking in crowds I love the bustle ...I know some people would have anxiety attacks around crowds 🤔
  • @peiper2532
Looks like the people don’t care.

Quality of peopke cause this, those houses and neighborhoods use to be first class. That just shows you what not taken care of what is yours will happen. Who would let that happen. Those people expect someone to do it for them. Aint gonna happen.
