In this video we rebuild one of our solar trackers for under $100. We show step by step how to build a solar tracker, how to adjust a linear actuator and how to wire a solar tracker controller. This is a single axis tracker but can easily be a dual axis tracker.Living off grid.

Thank you for your presentation. It answers a couple questions for me. I’m in the process of building, I had never thought of the idea of having a well drilling rig. Set a casing for the Suport post. Excellent idea. I did not realize there were different voltage linear actuators available. And I have not seen that type of controller listed for sale. I’ll look some more. Thank you again.
  • Fantastic by far the best DIY solar tracker I have seen. A video on the combiner box would be great

An instant subscription to your channel after watching this, your explanation and presentation is excellent. Thanks

Awesome Bobby! I'm so intrigued with what you are doing. Would like to travel out to the homestead one day soon....
  • Wish I would have seen your videos earlier, I was wanting to do my solar tracking but went with ground mount and mounting on shipping container. I will try to find dish mounts and do this. This is awesome!!! Thank you very much!!! Awesome videos!!!
  • Very neat. I've been wanting solar and this info is great. Thanks for sharing!
  • Your the first one I see with (latitude) satellite tracking idea. You do need to balance the panels. East West Tilts is all you need. I can’t believe, your first one to get it right.

Found you on FB Small Homesteaders. We are really enjoying the solar vids. BIG thumbs up from us.

Thanks for the video it's very helpful; the follow up, wiring the panel would be great too.
  • Thanks ..for info ..and yes it very expensive ..to order on line ..I think I will build one.
  • Thanks for the info. This diy is the only way to get paid back the money. The prices for brand new ones are ridicoulus if you want to save money with panels. It is much cheaper just to instal more panels than buy a tracker for 3000!! Thanks again.

great video. greetings from another DIYer. i hope to go off grid too. i have made a 3 kW 12 panel DIY tracker using junk laying around (had to purchase some L stock though), controls are clock based, no sensors used. i have a couple of vids about it on my channel.

I love what you are doing and think it's awesome. I think that doing some time lapse editing will make watchability much better. Keep up what your doing as far as subject matter.

Well explained video, although, I think a time-lapse of the dismantling would have sufficed to cut down on the video time of this. Just my input. I really like the look of your structure! It looks solid and well made. It'd be nice to see how you made it, especially the pivot points and whether or not you have bearings on them? Nevertheless, well done. I checked out the solar tracker that you provided a link to, and it appears that they are unavailable or have increased in cost exponentially. These devices used to be really cheap to buy and all over the internet, but now I see that they are in the hundreds of dollars. Crazy! Thanks muchly for the video. Cheers!!
