We love mini PCs here on SC, but this one is a little wild. A touch screen, a webcam, IO that just blasts out the sides, has Minisforum gone too far? Jake is here to see if their new AtomMan X7 Ti actually makes sense when you get it all set up or if these features seem a little superfluous.

i didnt expect that camera quality very nice

Jake worrying about not being able to make it stiff again because it can’t be screwed was an opportunity that the editor missed. 😂

if the touchscreen was displaying windows and works as a second screen, it would be great for streaming

This would be great if the mini screen worked like a Stream Deck which worked with Linux (Stream Deck does work in Linux). I would put the X7Ti off to the side and use it for one button functionality. My current mini PC is already on my desk wasting space. One thing annoying is that opening it to put in the hard drive and RAM kind of sucks, . It would be nice to be able to step up the screen to shut off after awhile, and then let it activate on the first touch..

this seems like it would be great for your older family member who sort of gets tech. acceptable system for someone who doesn't really game, and understands enough about computers for you to walk them through most problems. The screen seems great for that.
  • When I know there are screws under a rubber foot like those I just stab the screwdriver through the feet XD

1:14 "its a computa wit a webcam" why did that come out like a 7 year old said it :face-blue-smiling: i love it
  • @RaidOwl
Nervously watching to make sure Jake had the same thoughts I did in my video
  • I get this is for a meeting room conference machine, but a screen (or touchscreen) can be really helpful in a small home server, since you won’t need to wire up a monitor or a portable USB-C display
  • @thechezzer
Shame we didn't see the oculink performance, but it is still a decent product

Jake, the TI could mean "Touch Interface" instead of Titanium... 1:00

For me mini PCs are basically "Raspberry Pi stuff but I need more grunt than a Raspberry Pi", but I feel like that makes a built in screen even more useful since I'm probably running it headless
  • @SpartanDiab
My thumbnail had a linus meme on the screen, the superior thumbnail!
  • The screen ended up being cooler than I thought. A little diy router or something maybe?

I would love for this thing to have an atom-N305(the 8 core) and then use this as a wall mouunted smart home thermostat hub security camera thing. Run something like ispy or frigate and then when it detects a person or car coming up the driveway, or a deer, bear, or mountain lion in the back yard it switches the screen to a live view of the camera. When the event is done, switch back to house stats like internal/external temp, humidity and air quality, with quick ways to swipe through screens that have forecasts, storage stats, maybe a way to hook into whole home audio. Now, probably smarter to just have something rack mounted and use a tablet to interface with it, but i like the idea of having descrete devices that do their thing, and then sync back to a file server for on-site redundancy.

I'd mount it to the side of my monitor so the wires are hidden then it would look pretty slick and be cable managed
  • @mjwitz10
I can use those magnet things to stick it to the side of my work van

I was looking at one of these on Amazon yesterday.
