A suggestion for a future food theory episode: How accurate are food expiration dates? Has the food industry ever been guilty of shortening expiration dates in order to increase sales? ie. The shorter an expiration date, the less likely a consumer is going to be able to consume the entire product in the allotted time frame, thus requiring them to purchase another?

Matt: "they are all the same ingredients they should taste the same, but they dont-" Meanwhile Steph: acheiving burger enlightenment

One huge difference for the Crabby Patty design it that the lettuce will prevent the cheese from melting hence changing its flavor.
  • Hey Matpat, I think you just found the secret ingredient of the Krabbypatty: the order of the ingredients
  • @DavidSap
Not a mistake - calling a "single" a "double" for marketing purposes is exactly the kind of thing Mr. Krabs would do
  • I watched this when it was originally released and it fundamentally changed the way we build burgers in this house and I'm never going back. You changed our burger eating life, cannot thank you enough.
  • @PrinceDinoboy
My primary takeaway from this video is the Mat and Steph must be really fun at a cookout.
  • @geno9213
Funny thing about Ramsay. He says lettuce on the bottom, but I've caught him in a couple shows, where the lettuce ends up near the top.
  • I love that a company would do something as innovative as print a child’s play house on the inside of their packaging. Maybe other companies will start to do something similar now that this will have gained some attention

Try this sometime... Start by chopping all the vegetables. This way, you get all the flavors in every bite, without having to chase a ring of onion around, or suffer a whole slice of tomato or pickle sliding out with a bite. Next stack your savories (mustard, pickle and onion) and salads (mayo, lettuce and tomato) together when stacking. As far as the stacking goes, savories on the bottom bun, then the meat and cheese, topped with the salads under the top bun. This is also a very sturdy burger, due to the chopped veggies. Wanna take it up another notch? Try melting Velveeta on the patties. That's right, I said it. VELVEETA! Don't knock it till you've tried it. Just don't tell your friends until after they've tasted it. They'll love this burger! 😃
  • I tried out the Krabby patty order and it's incredible how the tastes all dance together and it actually really changes the burger. Thank you.
  • @Ollowain1
I love how you two are together... the "Mayo on the top bun" really showed that 😂 reminds me of our dance breaks in the kitchen 😄
  • @AnIdom-.
10:11 i have watched this before and i just noticed it says “do do do do do do” when he spins the nob and its so cute!!!!!

13:20 "our utters are full, milk us" -Matpat 2021 Steph's reaction of crouching down in the corner and crying is appropriate to the situation

It’s funny because this was so common sense to me after working at Burger King when I was barely an adult. That was one thing that was stressed to us was that the build is very important and I was surprised at how important it ended up being after a little experimentation. So this was fun for me watching you guys go through the same process I did way back then.

bro mat and steph are just made for each other the perfect match bro its like they know what the other is abt to say i love it
  • @KevinYannutz
I personally agree with "Apple stack" though the WhatsApp/Ramsay stack is also pretty good. Lettuce on the bottom bun totally helps with the slipping and preventing soggy buns
