7 Days on a Controversial Cruise Line - Mind Blowing!

I’ve just disembarked a cruise on one of the biggest and most exciting cruise ships in the entire world where I braved a 11-storey slide and went to a secret bar that doesn’t exist on the deck plan. The cruise was onboard MSC’s newest cruise ship the MSC World Europa and MSC definitely are a controversial cruise line. Plenty of people love them, and lots hate them with a passion.

Normally when I book an MSC cruise it’s because I’ve found a bargain and paid half the price of the mainstream American or British cruise lines, this time though I just really wanted to try this ship so paid far more than I ever have for an MSC cruise in the past and I hoped I’d get more in return. The ship certainly looked impressive from the promotional videos.

If the bad reviews were to be believed I’d be spending the week hungry, overwhelmed, uncomfortable and generally miserable but I knew the only way to really find out was to get on board for myself.

We boarded the ship in Barcelona in Spain and as soon as we walked up to the World Europa I knew that this would be an interesting cruise, realising that every little square like this was a balcony that would have between 2 and 4 people in if blew my mind a little bit.

The whole "Give you what you ask for with no additional banter" is right up my alley! As an introvert I would humbly request that they not book the other 8999 passengers though hahaha

That constant upsell is wild, I get once or twice a cruise but multiple times a day! I NEED to try that slide

“Looking up at whales”… usually that means something has gone terribly wrong lol 😂

I randomly saw Emma’s video on the YT homepage about a week ago and have watched over 30 since! As others have commented, your video style is so great. Providing a lot of info in a concise manner with excellent video that is edited perfectly with what you’re saying. And most importantly, you come across as a friendly, genuine, and caring person. I can’t swim and my wife and I have no attention to ever cruise but watching you, I’ve learned so much about cruising that if we ever ago, we’ll have your videos to thank. Cheers!

There is no one who does a better, more objective and engaging cruise review than Emma - the best!

I really appreciate that they always have some food available in the buffet. The last cruise I went on was with my diabetic dad, it makes it really easy to just grab a banana or something if his blood sugar got too low and walking the length of the ship helps keep it from spiking. It's a good way to travel if that's a concern for you!

Did this cruise last September. Was very very busy then. Buffet very noisy. Crew were great, couldn't fault them. Didn't get an invite to the secret bar😢. You found parts of the ship we didn't see😂 . Rarely got asked about speciality dining, must be my Paddington hard stare! Didn't consider cruising until I found your channel, this was my third cruise in two years.

Did my first MSC Euribia cruise in january and did'nt expect much after all the bad reviews! I am so happy, that i wanted to try them out myself and can't wait to go back! I so far experienced 7 different cruiselines and MSC is leading the ranking place number one together with my all time favorite one!

I liked the bit about the secret bar. I kind of understand about charging for drinks there if its such a small and likely popular spot. If they were giving drinks for free nobody would leave.

Hey Emma your open mindedness on MSC is a big part of why we booked our first cruise with them on Divina, a transatlantic, this coming April. We increasingly find the usual American style cruise lines to be a little staid and what others consider to be good service we think of as being over the top nonsense. Polite and respectful transactional interaction with the ship's crew is all we need. Also, give us a mix of nationalities rather than a ship full of boring retirees like me and we will always be happier and better entertained.

I saw the MSC World Europa while I was on holiday in Malta. I was having a nosebleed in one of the parcs that faced the Valetta harbor just when it set sail. Seeing that massive ship turn around in such a small harbor was incredibly impressive. I took a couple of videos with my phone of it. Im very happy I managed to capture that moment. Truely cities on the water.
  • I absolutely love everything about your cruise blog. I've been on well over 25 + cruises on several different cruise lines and still find myself learning a lot from people that do this for a living like yourself. Happy Cruising, I'll be on the MSC Meraviglia in 4 days.

In the US, pinch of salt is often associated with cooking, so grain of salt was probably used to help differentiate, plus a grain of salt is, well, nothing really.
  • @timpetr
Find for your self. 😊. Just got off the Meraviglia, and had a great time. Thanks for the open mind. Yes we do MSC, for the value. 🍻

I love a new cruise video to watch for lunch! The food on this cruise looks great
  • @adamp2384
Hi Emma love the Video, just wanted to mention for anyone that watches that Travels on MSC from USA that they are closed loop cruises so there is only one Embarkation/Debarkation Day so very much like any other cruise line here in the States

As a french guest, I'm actually quite happy with what I've had on MSC until now. I bet the service on american cruises must be very high so that so many seem to be annoyed with how MSC-crew behave on board. Anyway, speaking a foreign language is mandatory for us when we travel ou of France, so I really enjoy listening to so many foreign cruisers, that sometimes struggle as much as I do with english. It's always fun when we try all together to understand one another. Thanks for the review, as always. The World Europa is on my list for a next cruise, and you have very highlighted the ship with all those vids. I bet we will enjoy it a lot once on board (just need to find the time for it ^^ )
  • The cruise ships are getting more huge but looks very impressive. I have been on an MSC cruise before in Europe and found the staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks Emma for showing us around this beautiful ship.
