In Germany the Solar power increased massively this year. And we do not have as much Sun then you do down under.

Hi Viking, great videos/channel mate 👍 here in not-so-sunny England NW, I have REA bi-facial PV (6.3kw+10kw battery). Currently charging EV on trickle (2.5kw normal plug cable) fully charged home battery, & some feedin too. Solar is ace, cut our electric bill to 10-20% of what is was last year (gas heating/water) with EV & heat pump on house. Despite trees around house & cloudy/rainy conditions above average last 6 months. In UK! I’d be in credit this Summer if feedin tariff gets approved🤞

I live in the UK and I want solar, but to live in Australia and not want solar you must be crazy, 2024 China has overproduction of solar panels so very cheap - we have technology for solar and batteries - WTHack - Congratulations Australia for what you have achieved - Success and for the Bright Viking in everything you do and keep up to date .

One thing people don't realize is that for electricity, the Grid Operators must balance the demand versus generation for every second of the day, every day of the year to keep the Line Voltage and Frequency within tolerances. • The Grid Operators adjust Grid Generation in real time to balance the load but have very limited control over the demand. • The system must be built to handle the highest demand (usually in the early evening) • Rooftop Solar generally produces the most electricity back to the Grid during the middle of the day which is not when the peak of demand is. So the result is that as Rooftop Solar becomes a significant % of the Generation, for which the Utility has no ability to increase or decrease production, the Grid can become unstable. This is typically worst in Spring and Fall when people are not Heating or Cooling so the Rooftop Solar makes up a higher portion of generation. So if you get Solar, you should really get a battery also which can not only backup your home but provide power to the grid during peak hours and get paid for it. It's also why Utility Grid batteries are starting to get deployed to solve this problem.

no such thing as a sun "tax" its a lowering of the FIT to near zero. Not surprising now that most days wholesale electricity process go negative. to the point of providers creating plans that give you FREE electricity in peak solar times if you have an EV to soak up that excess supply.

June 24 over here in W-Europe the energie mix was : 65% nuclear, 8% wind, 15,5% solar, fossile 9,5% and 2% other renewable.

When solar, wind and batteries will be everywhere, you will be out of business.

The latest report in Australia the wholesale price of power went up partly because the wind supply was opating at 24% because of low wind. The huge majority of Australia's power comes from coal & gas still. We have a large number of solar farms that are not connected to the grid. Also in Australia you used to get paid for any excess power from your roof solar going to the grid now if you have excess power to the grid you have to pay them to take it Sam should, & quite probably does, know this, he lives here.

I never understood why solar is so expensive in the US.

I have a 13 KW solar system on my roof but the re- feed tarrif has been dropped to 3C/ KW. It looks like the home solar panels are working only for the electric companies.

The problem is that you can’t get a reasonable amount for feed in tariff… mine has come down to 5c kilowatt hour!

14.4 kw for 4400 - the fed subsidy in the USA. Cheaper than that in Australia? Looks like you are about double the cost of panels in the USA still.

Absolutely true you can make money from solar. The problem is that, today, each house that installs a solar system while still relying on a grid connection contributes to raising the unit price of electricity (or tax) all householder who are not or cannot use solar. Essential spinning capacity gets more and more expensive.
