Nothing like beating the red Sox in the 9th but to actually knock them out of playoff contention too. Just beautiful !!
  • The Orioles finishing the season with a win awesome. Watching The Orioles eliminate Boston from the playoffs. Priceless.

This game started the run from 2012-2016. The WC game in 2016 ended it.

Gotta say, besides winning the Wild Card in Texas and the division in 2014, this was one of the greatest moments in Orioles history. Game 162 of 2011 πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Why is it so glorious to see the Red Sox go down in flames?
  • I lost my mind and celebrated like the orioles won the World Series when they pulled this one out. I was sooooo happy.

I was watching this live at the Cancun Cantina in Hanover, MD and the place went nuts! This moment is a microcosm for a lot of things. This marked the beginning of the end of Papelbon's time in Boston. Crawfords time in Boston was historically bad, and pretty much his entire career after leaving TB. He never fully committed to that sliding catch. This was a rare bright spot in a very dark time for Orioles fans. I also miss Gary Thorne but Kevin Brown is pretty great nowadays!

I had no dog in this fight, but I never, ever get tired of watching this.

The end of the first day of the 2012 Season.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. The Yankees jumped out to a huge lead on Tampa and the Sox were winning this game. Then the Yankees/Rays game went into some kind of delay so I was watching this unfold in my work break room. Papelbon had Reimold at 2-2, one strike away from the playoffs. Then bing bang boom, they blew it. Now even though the Sox lost, the season wasn't over yet because the Rays and Yankees game wasn't decided. I'll never forget DAN F'N JOHNSON hitting the 2 strike, 2 out 9th inning home run to tie the game. Then when Longoria hit the walkoff, it was over. Amazing how the Sox completely collapsed in 2011 but had the Yankees won the game, they would have played the Play-In Game anyway.
  • Nothing makes me more happy than watching stuff like this happen to the Red Sox. Especially when the Orioles make them suffer

The game that changed our franchise fortunes for the better

5 years ago already. lotta baseball since then and the Os going to the playoffs!
  • @GenF91
This was a heartbreaker to watch if you're a RedSox fan. I was so furious! Then Longoria hitting that walk-off HR added insult to injury.

One of the best calls ever, and they didn't even make the playoffs. The irony. The only thing better than eliminating a team from making the playoffs, is eliminating your rival. What a moment in time no one in Baltimore or Boston or Tampa Bay will ever forget
  • I can watch this everyday. Maybe play this in the clubhouse before the game to get the team pumped!

SB Nation needs to do this. 8:54-Welcome to a moment in history
