I absolutely love this unit. I'll definitely be ordering a Icefishing transducer for this next ice season
  • In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens youtube.com/post/UgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY… recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Thank you for posting this video. I recently purchased and installed a Helix 9 SI on my boat. Can't wait to try out a few of these settings.
  • there are a lot of trash fishfinder videos on youtube but this isn't one of them. Great job for actually showing the fish finder!
  • Of all the tutorials I have watched in regards to the Helix, you are the first to adjust the Sharpness setting in SI Enhance for Side Imaging yet not in Down Imaging. Can you explain why?

How do you get the feet display for the si I can't figure it out
  • @jevskeeter2100
Humminbird's system is SideImaging and DownImaging. You will not see "heat images" on the sonar. Stronger or "hotter" returns is probably what you were saying... On a compact transducer looking at DownImaging simply increase your sensitivity for an improved display then adjust with DI Enhanced. 3X depth is a starting point but in shallow water say 5' you are not using the full strength of SI if you only range at 15'. SI shines in shallow water giving you a greater cone of coverage than any other system.
  • No heat signatures, it is a harder return of the ping. Harder returns show a different color than soft pings.
  • Hi ! Thanks for a good video! If you know, please tell me how to turn on / off RTS (real time sonar) window in 2D mode? Thanks a lot for your help!
  • @Motoyeung
Hi, I have just purchased the same unit, want to ask you are you keeping the unit on the Ram mount when you traveling to the lake or take it out.
  • @geostrong3606

  • @lorddebo1
I'm thinking of purchasing a helix 7 si. I have seen several comments online about the clarity of the si and di being bad so guys are upgrading the transducer from the basic it comes with to the hd. Have you noticed any issues?
  • @philipelrod1990
Can you give me the exact setting to be able to see the lure falling (Jigging Spoons or Drop Shot) on the sonar of the unit? I have tried everything including talking to Humminbird three times and I still can't see the lure falling.

Question: When your seeing all of this on the Screen, PHYSICALLY where is this stuff located???? Directly under you? In front of the Boat, Behind the Boat etc., ? I'm old have have never used a electronic fish finder machine. Got a Helix 7 MEGA CHRIP SI for my 75 birthday, not sure if it was a good gift.... I'm basically lost ! Seems like I spend more time messing with the mCHINE THAN I DO FISHING..... LACK OF KNOWLEDGE I GUESS. Please let me know if you have time! Thanks you young man.

Check out the newer Helix7 Chirp, Mega DI, GPS, G4N with compatible charts, Ethernet networking, Bluetooth, NMEA, Wi-Fi. Screen is perfect in size, and the best bang for the buck. (Prove me wrong)

Downscan looks like crap. I just bought 2 Helix 7 G3 Mega SI units. Downscan looks same as yours. Not even worth having to me. Side scan is pretty good. Gonna be taking mine back and going with Lowrance. Thanks for sharing. Now I know its not just my units or the lake I'm on.
