He was born in Breslau on May 2, 1892 and died on April 21, 1918 when he was fatally hit by a bullet during an emergency landing.

An exceedingly brave and courageous man The Red Baron was. It was a heavy loss for The Empire to lose him, especially at such a young age. He and his Flying Circus fought valiantly in the skies about the battlefield. Herman Goring in the dying days of the war thought he could replace The Red Baron when he died, he was not even 1% of what Baron was.
